Publication number: 20190010745Abstract: A self-locking guillotine door assembly and method for an animal enclosure is disclosed. The assembly includes a door, a locking mechanism attached to the door, and a cable attached to the locking mechanism. Pulling the cable releases the locking mechanism and lifts the locking mechanism and door. Pushing up on the bottom of the door locks the locking mechanism and resists lifting the door. The locking mechanism can include a post, a vertical slide with a slot, connector bars and cams such that when the cable is pulled, the cable lifts the vertical slide to lift proximal ends of the connector bars, which pivots the cams to release the locking mechanism. When the enclosure door is pushed up from the bottom, the locking mechanism pivots the cams towards the top of the enclosure door to lock the locking mechanism and resist lifting of the enclosure door.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 7, 2017Publication date: January 10, 2019Applicant: The Mason Company, LLCInventors: Gregory N. Taylor, Gary Silvis, Daniel L. Perry, Troy N. Brown

Patent number: 8707903Abstract: Devices, apparatuses, systems and/or methods related to animal enclosures. Specifically, the disclosed devices, apparatuses, systems and/or methods relate to animal enclosure floor seal systems that may be coupled to an animal enclosure wall and may impede, restrict and/or reduce debris from entering or exiting the animal enclosure. In this manner, likelihood of contamination of the animal enclosure may be reduced.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 2011Date of Patent: April 29, 2014Assignee: The Mason Company, LLCInventors: Gary Silvis, Gregory N. Taylor, Jeffrey J. Ballman

Patent number: 8453606Abstract: Devices, apparatuses, systems and/or methods related to animal enclosure latches. Specifically, the disclosed devices, apparatuses, systems and/or methods relate to animal enclosure latches having a slide bolt and a pendant, where the operation of the slide bolt and pendant require separate movements, thus decreasing the likelihood that an animal may open the latch.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2010Date of Patent: June 4, 2013Assignee: The Mason Company, LLCInventors: Troy Brown, Rod McAninch, Gary Silvis

Patent number: 8104432Abstract: Devices, apparatuses, systems and/or methods related to animal enclosure latches. Specifically, the disclosed devices, apparatuses, systems and/or methods relate to animal enclosure latches having an internal latch receptacle and an external latch receptacle, where the internal latch receptacle has a top downward-sloping portion to prevent animal collars and the like from becoming hooked, snagged and/or caught on the internal latch receptacle.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 2010Date of Patent: January 31, 2012Assignee: The Mason Company, LLCInventors: Gary Silvis, Jeffrey J. Ballman, Troy N. Brown

Patent number: 6568350Abstract: A modular, double-height animal boarding system which can be installed inside a building having limited headroom while permitting persons up to six feet in height to enter lower runs without stooping. The boarding system has a lower section divided into plural lower runs, each lower run having a rear wall and a door that opens outwardly away from the rear wall. At least one upper section is supported above the lower section and is divided into plural upper runs. The upper runs have doors that open onto a catwalk. The upper sections are provided with a plumbing system so that each upper run has a drain through which waste can be washed, the waste from each run then draining into a single drainpipe, and, thereafter, draining into a floor gutter connected to any suitable waste collection system. The upper runs have floors which are sealed against leakage of liquid material to the lower runs by a floor seal provided around the perimeter of the floors.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 2002Date of Patent: May 27, 2003Assignee: The Mason CompanyInventors: Homer F. Savard, Daniel E. Blackburn, Gary Silvis

Patent number: 6152080Abstract: A panel leveling system for use in connection with animal kennel runs sharing a common sloping floor. The panel leveling system comprises a base extending parallel the slope of the floor, a vertically oriented wall panel and a sealing element extending between the base and the wall panel. The sealing element prevents fluid from passing between the base and wall panel and further functions to maintain upper and lower edges of the wall panel in a horizontal orientation.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 1999Date of Patent: November 28, 2000Assignee: The Mason CompanyInventor: Ken Allen

Patent number: 6021739Abstract: A modular animal boarding system has a lower section divided into plural lower runs, each lower run sharing a joint rear wall with a second lower run and doors that open outwardly away from the joint rear wall. Plural upper sections are supported above the lower section. The upper sections have doors that open inwardly generally toward the lower joint rear wall onto a catwalk. The upper sections are provided with a plumbing system so that each upper run has a drain through which waste can be washed, the waste from each run then draining into a single drainpipe, and, thereafter, draining into a floor gutter connected to any suitable waste collection system.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 1998Date of Patent: February 8, 2000Assignee: The Mason CompanyInventor: Ken Allen

Patent number: 5317108Abstract: A gasketless weather-resistant electrical outlet cover assembly includes a cover plate with a top wall and an aperture for exposing an electrical device and a door having a top wall which is hingedly connected to the cover plate top wall. The hinged connection includes at least one hook projecting up from the cover plate top wall, each hook having a slot extending into the space under the hook. The hinge connection also includes at least one laterally extending hinge pin on the door for pivotal engagement in the space under a hook on the cover plate through the slot therein so that the door can swing between a closed position wherein the cover covers the aperture in the cover plate to an open position wherein the door is swung away from the cover plate to expose that aperture.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1992Date of Patent: May 31, 1994Assignee: L.E. Mason CompanyInventor: Marshall J. Prairie, Jr.

Patent number: 5116256Abstract: Structure for isolating a kennel run from wash water and other waste from an adjacent run. An upwardly opening channel is sealed to the floor between the runs, and a partition is supported directly above this channel with its lower edge essentially in the channel, so that waste cannot pass above or below the channel, and so that the waste runs from the partition into the channel.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 1990Date of Patent: May 26, 1992Assignee: The Mason CompanyInventor: James F.
