  • Patent number: 6294127
Abstract: A container assembly includes a container body formed of a thermoplastic material having an inner surface, an outer surface, and at least one corner having a reinforcement molded to the outer surface of the corner. The reinforcement has a peripheral edge, which is partially embedded in the outer surface of the container body. A method of making a container assembly comprises the step of molding a container body over a portion of a reinforcement. A reinforcement having a peripheral edge is disposed in a mold. A fluid thermoplastic material is disposed into the mold. The thermoplastic material is then molded over the inner surface of the mold and the peripheral edge of the reinforcement thereby forming the container body. The thermoplastic material contacts the peripheral edge and melts or softens the edge. A peripheral edge is then brought into engagement with the container body to provide a secure seal between the reinforcement and the container body.

  • Patent number: 6142537
Abstract: The connector includes a male member with an engaging portion on its outer face, a female member with an inner space for receiving the male member and a pair of manipulating members provided in the female member from opposite sides. The engaging portion of the male member is received through and behind the pair of manipulating members in the inner space. Each manipulating member has a part which enters the track region of the engaging portion and an elastic piece. The coupling of the male and female members is reliably obtained by two opposite side engagements between the engaging portion of the male member and the pair of manipulating members and maintained by the thrusting force by the elastic piece.

  • Patent number: 6028017
Abstract: A composite nonwoven fabric is constructed to have high breathability, a low modulus and a good hand. The composite is comprised of a fibrous nonwoven material attached to a highly elastic breathable foam film substrate. The foam film substrate is dimensioned to be thin enough to provide numerous apertures and/or voids therethrough. The attachment of the fibrous nonwoven material to the foam film substrate is accomplished by needlepunching portions of at least some strands of the nonwoven material through the apertures in the elastic foam film. During the needlepunching process, the numerous apertures and/or voids in the foam film facilitate the passage of strands of the nonwoven material through the foam film by the needles while minimizing damage to the structure of the foam film by the needles. Alternatively, the composite nonwoven textile is constructed by attaching fibers to the breathable elastic foam film by flocking.

  • Patent number: 6022191
Abstract: A fan blade mounting system for large air-moving fans includes a radially extending hub strut, a blade root member pivotally coupled to an end of the hub strut for receiving a blade skin, and a tube end located between the blade root member and the hub strut. A pair of resilient mounts are utilized in the blade root member to effectively pivotally couple the blades to the hub, thus relieving most of the vertical bending moment transferred to the hub and eliminating critical frequencies associated with the fan. The hub strut is connected to the hub of the fan by a stud having right- and left-handed threads and a wall thickness adjacent to the threads sufficient for distributing the stresses substantially uniformly on the threads, thereby improving fatigue resistance. The resilient mounts comprise a metal core and metal sleeve with a resilient elastomeric layer between the core and sleeve. The sleeves are connected to the blade root member and the cores of the two mounts are clamped to the tube end.

  • Patent number: 5763034
Abstract: A fuel transfer tube comprises an inner layer of hot-melt fluororesin and an outer layer of partial aromatic polyamide resin or ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer. The layer of hot-melt fluororesin reliably prevents alcohol from permeating into the tube, while gasoline is effectively prevented from permeating into the tube by the layer of partial aromatic polyamide resin or ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer. The fuel transfer tube, therefore, is suitable for transferring alcohol, gasoline and a mixture thereof.

  • Patent number: 5702001
Abstract: A container having panels that contain a bag of strip material. The container is movable between a confining position enclosing the bag of strip material and a position in which the bag is relaxed so as to relax snags of looped elastic material that may have arisen during transit. During transit, the strip material has a tendency to flow from the top and over the edges of the bulk to work its way along the sides, potentially snagging with adjacent loop material. During dispensement of the strip material, these snags may give rise to tension spikes. By displacing the panels of the container out of the confining position and into a relaxed position, the confining forces become relieved and thereby the snags relax. The tension spikes otherwise arising during dispensement are thereby eliminated.

  • Patent number: 5564901
Abstract: A large air moving fan has a number of hollow airfoil blades extending generally radially from a rotatable hub. The tips of the blades are surrounded by a circumferential shroud leaving a narrow gap between the tips of the blades and the shroud. A fin on the tip of each blade extends substantially perpendicular to the transverse cross section of the blade. The outline of the fin corresponds approximately to the shape the airfoil at the tip of the blade and the fin is curved so as to be substantially parallel to the shroud. It is believed that the fin prevents direct radial flow of a boundary layer of air from the outside surface of the blade into the gap between the tip of the blade and the shroud. This reduces the turbulence adjacent to the tip of the blade since the air traveling radially along the blade does not mix as violently with air passing through the gap from the high pressure side of the fan to the low pressure side of the fan. Noise reduction in the order of 3 db is obtained.

  • Patent number: 5010213
Abstract: A signal input sheet having a flexible upper laminate and a lower laminate. The upper laminate includes either a conductive layer or a resistive layer on its lower surface as a first layer and at least one hand-written input area and at least one binary data input area on its upper surface. The lower laminate includes either a conductive layer or a resistance layer on its upper surface as a second layer, however, at least one of the first and second layer is formed as a resistive layer. Elastic insulative spacers are interposed between the first layer of the upper laminate and the second layer of the lower laminate. The spacers are arranged at desired intervals to allow the first layer to come in contact with the second layer when pressure is applied to the upper laminate from the outside. The spacing between adjacent insulative spacers is larger in the binary input area than the hand-written input area.

  • Patent number: 4989913
Abstract: A barrier to the passage of sound, vibration, and moisture through a hollow channel in a motor vehicle body and a method for producing same are provided. The barrier is comprised of a resilient body such as flexible foam and a heat-deformable member such as a tube which defines a passageway between the ends of the resilient body when the resilient body and the member are mounted in the hollow channel. The barrier may be coated with hot melt adhesive. The barrier is mounted in the hollow channel and the motor vehicle body is dipped in a paint bath and drained. Paint flows in and out through the passageway in the barrier, thus coating the interior of the hollow channel. When the motor vehicle body is passed through the bake oven, the heat-deformable member collapses, the barrier is closed, and the hot melt adhesive bonds the barrier to the channel.
