  • Patent number: 6457650
Abstract: An object of the invention is to provide a thin, low cost card with a display function in which the card display information is able to be rewritten within the card itself, without the use of an external rewriting apparatus. For this purpose, a card with a display function of the present invention comprises a data processing section and a display processing section, wherein the display processing section is equipped with a heating section and a thermosensitive section. By using a selection circuit, a plurality of heating elements of the heating section are heated selectively in accordance with stored data in a memory circuit. On sensing the thermal energy, the corresponding portions of the thermosensitive section undergo a variation in state, thereby displaying information corresponding to the stored data. Consequently, the rewriting of display information can be conducted automatically only within the body of the card itself.

  • Patent number: 6434025
Abstract: The invention relates to a power supply unit which can fail-safely monitor not only for an excessive power supply output but also for an abnormal drop in output level. At the time of start-up, with the start signal from a start circuit, an AC signal is supplied to a primary side of a transformer and based on an AC output from a secondary side of the transformer, an output for supplying to an external load is generated and this output is monitored with a monitoring circuit. If the output level is within a set upper and lower limit threshold value range the output is judged to be normal and a high level normal verification signal is generated from the monitoring circuit, and with the high level normal verification signal, an AC signal is supplied to the primary side of the transformer, and the output supply to the external load is continued.

  • Patent number: 6392451
Abstract: The invention relates to a threshold value operation circuit which can perform an analogue type threshold value operation, and which can generate an AC signal with a stabilized frequency and duty ratio which is not influenced by input signal level or characteristic changes of the circuit elements and the like. A switching device (SWa) is switched by a switching signal (Sg) from an external AC source, to modulate an input signal (Vi) which is the subject of a threshold value operation. A modulation signal (V1) thereof is level detected by a level detection circuit (10) having a previously set threshold value, and if within a range of a predetermined level, an AC output (Vo) is generated from the level detection circuit (10).

  • Patent number: 6292524
Abstract: A counting apparatus having excellent fail-safe characteristics can be used in a rotation-stopped detection apparatus. As a first feature, timing of a high-frequency signal P2 is carried out by a counter 1 after completion of a counting of pulse signals P1. When the frequency of the timing output for the high-frequency signal is a predetermined value, a judgment signal, indicating that the counting is normal, is generated by a frequency discriminating circuit 30. As a second feature, a counter 100 is preset using a preset signal. Then, after verifying by an output from a self hold circuit 102 that the counter 100 has been reset, a counting output is generated from a self hold circuit 104. As a third feature, the counting apparatus is used as timer circuits 203, 300, 400, and the generation frequency of a rotation detection pulse signal IP based on a sensor signal, is obtained to thereby detect a rotation-stopped condition of a rotating body.

  • Patent number: 6239956
Abstract: The present invention relates to a fail-safe timing circuit and on-delay circuit which does not produce an erroneous output where the delay time is shortened, due to a fault. The timing circuit comprises: an oscillation circuit (11) which produces a timing output from a cathode terminal of a PUT after a predetermined time lapse from input of an input signal (VIN); and a monitoring circuit (12) for monitoring for the normalcy of the oscillation circuit (11). Moreover the on-delay circuit comprises a self hold circuit (13) with an output signal (Vo) generated from the monitoring circuit (12) only when the normalcy of the oscillation circuit (11) is verified by generation of a falling signal of a cathode terminal voltage of the oscillation circuit (11), input to a second terminal (b), and the input signal (VIN) input to a first terminal (a), which produces an output signal only when the two input signals are both at a higher level than a power source potential.

  • Patent number: 6184799
Abstract: Monitoring and control apparatus for fail-safe monitoring for normal operation of traffic signal lights provided at an intersection or the like where a plurality of roads intersect. The illumination conditions of respective signal lights are detected using as sensor device, and when the number of illuminated or non-illuminated signal lights is a predetermined number, a normal judgment output of logic value 1 corresponding to a high energy condition is generated while, when the number of illuminated or non-illuminated signal lights is not the predetermined number, an abnormal judgment output of logic value 0 corresponding to a low energy condition is generated. As a result, when a fault in the monitoring apparatus stops the output, the resultant output condition is the same as for a danger condition due to a signal light abnormality, resulting in an extremely safe signal light monitoring and control with excellent fail-safe characteristics.

  • Patent number: 6034449
Abstract: The invention relates to a load drive circuit wherein an emergency shutdown switch for forcible interruption and a normal shutdown switch for normal current control are disposed in series in a load power supply circuit. An emergency shutdown switch (SW.sub.A) and a normal shutdown switch (SW.sub.B) are disposed in series in a load power supply circuit. The normal shutdown switch (SW.sub.B) is periodically driven off for a short time by means of a control signal (X) from a normal shutdown switch control circuit (30), and the fact that this is off is monitored by an output signal (AC) from a monitoring circuit (40). If the output signal (AC) is not generated for an off-delay time or more of an off-delay circuit (21), then a control signal (Z) for an emergency shutdown switch control circuit (20) is stopped thereby forcibly switching off the emergency shutdown switch (SW.sub.A).

  • Patent number: 6002249
Abstract: A rotation stopped detection sensor detects a rotation stopped condition of a rotatable body using a plurality of optical sensors. The detection sensor also includes a rotation disk having optical guide portions for guiding light beams from light emitting devices to respective light receiving devices, and light shut off portions for shutting off the light beams to the respective light receiving devices. The optical guide portions and the light shut off portions are disposed alternately on an outer peripheral portion of the rotation disk. The plurality of optical sensors are disposed such that when the disk is stopped, one of the optical sensors is always at a position corresponding to an optical guide portion. As a result, when the disk is stopped, there is always one output from the optical sensors which is at a high level. Hence the stopping of the disk can be advised using a direct output from the optical sensor.

  • Patent number: 5966009
Abstract: A portion of a torsion bar (6) for axially supporting a movable plate (5) of a planar electromagnetic actuator, is made conducting by diffusing boron therein in a high concentration. An external power source can thus be electrically connected to a planar coil (7) via the torsion bar (6) itself. As a result, the possibility of disconnection faults in the electrical wiring due to back and forth twisting movement of the torsion bar is eliminated, thus improving the durability and reliability of the electromagnetic actuator.

  • Patent number: 5912608
Abstract: The present invention relates to a planar type electromagnetic actuator of two axis construction, having two movable plates (12A, 12B) with pivotal supports at right angles to each other. A pair of static magnetic field generating devices (4, 5) are arranged facing each other on either side of the movable plates (12A, 12B), and aligned with one diagonal direction of the movable plates (12A, 12B) so that a magnetic field acts on the movable plates (12A, 12B). A magnetic force due to the mutual action with a current flowing through drive coils (15A, 15B), acts on the movable plates (12A, 12B), to thus drive the movable plates (12A, 12B). As a result, the number of components for the magnetic field generating devices can be reduced, the construction of the electromagnetic actuator simplified, and construction costs reduced.
