Abstract: A fabrication machine is disclosed herein. In various aspects, the fabrication machine includes a brake adapted to mechanically cooperate with a wrapper to impart a longitudinal tension to the wrapper by controlling the force required to advance the wrapper, the wrapper comprised of a cellulose-based material. The brake is adjustable to allow selection of longitudinal tension in the wrapper, in various aspects. Various aspects may include a wrapper roll in mechanical cooperation with the brake, the wrapper being drawn from the wrapper roll as the wrapper is advanced. The fabrication machine secures the wrapper at the selected tension about the core to form a structural member, in various aspects. Methods of use of the fabrication machine are disclosed herein. Abstract: Various embodiments of communication systems and methods in which the communication system is operative to find, record, and use sets of pre-distortion parameters in conjunction with a pre-distortion procedure, in which each said set of pre-distortion parameters is operative to specifically counter distortions produced in a power amplifier by a specific combination of level of input signal power and level of analog gain associated with a transmission path of the communication system. In some embodiments, there is a modulator, a transmission chain, a distortion analysis mechanism, and a pre-distortion mechanism, operative to analyze and modify signals so as to counter signal distortion.

Abstract: An apparatus for providing utility receptacles and HDMI cables at a location on a work surface has a bottom panel member and a wall structure attached to the bottom panel member. The wall structure defines an interior region. An interior panel is positioned within the interior region and attached to the wall structure to form upper and lower compartments. An electrical power device is positioned within the interior region and attached to the wall structure. The electrical power device has an electrical power receptacle and device charging ports. A HDMI signal switcher is in the lower compartment and has HDMI input and output connectors. The apparatus includes a plurality of HDMI cables. Each HDMI cable extends from a corresponding opening in the interior panel and has a first HDMI connector connected to a corresponding HDMI input connector and a second HDMI connector for connection to an HDMI signal source device.

Abstract: A harness retainer for use with a juvenile vehicle seat in accordance with the present disclosure may include a first belt mount that couples to a first harness belt, a second belt mount that couples to a second harness belt and couples to the first belt mount, and a lock that moves from a locked configuration to an unlocked configuration, wherein the lock moves from the locked configuration, blocking movement of the first belt mount away from the second belt mount, to the unlocked configuration, allowing movement of the first belt mount away from the second belt mount.

Abstract: A system and method for intelligent information gathering and analysis. Information is gathered from a plurality of open sources such as markets, investigations, government databases, internet intelligence, and public records. The gathered information is parsed and linked based on marketplace activities including threats. The parsed and linked information is sent to a database where queries can be applied to produce dossiers on entities. A client may add his own information to enrich a dossier and reports may be made based on the dossiers. Alerts may be generated when certain predefined conditions are met. These alerts can be used to drive various actions.

Abstract: A system includes a translator device that is configured to receive, using a pre-programmed native mode of operation, a first barrier actuation code transmitted by a transmitter according to a first code format. The translator device then analyzes the first barrier actuation code and verifies that it is a valid code. When a valid code, the translator device saves the information contained in the code, and creates a second barrier actuation code at least in part from information contained in the first actuation code and transmits the second barrier actuation code according to the second code format, which is different from the first code format. A barrier operator is coupled to the translator device and a barrier. The barrier operator has a receiver apparatus and the receiver apparatus receives the second barrier actuation code. The barrier operator determines whether the second barrier actuation code is valid, and when the barrier actuation code is determined to be valid, actuates the barrier.

Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for managing inventory within a vending apparatus are disclosed. The vending apparatus includes a robot, which is configured to include a camera or a sensor. The vending apparatus contains one or more storage containers filled with items for sale, and the one or more storage containers may include indicia that are readable by the robot and provide information to outside parties. The robot is configured to monitor the items for sale within the vending apparatus, as well as the level of inventory within each storage container. The vending apparatus may transmit information relating to its included items for sale to an external server, where maintenance and refreshment operations can be implemented in an efficient, cost-effective manner.

Abstract: Continuously transposed conductor (“CTC”) cables are described. A CTC cable may include a plurality of electrically insulated strands connected in parallel at their ends. Additionally, each strand may include one or more conductors and an extruded insulation layer formed at least partially around the one or more conductors.

Abstract: A traffic advisor for an emergency vehicle. The traffic advisor includes a base capable of being attached to a roof of an emergency vehicle. The traffic advisor additionally includes a display member coupled to the base and shiftable relative to the base between a stowed position and a deployed position. The display member is further configured to display one or more advisory messages. The traffic advisor may also include an actuation system for shifting the display member between the stowed position and the deployed position. As such, in the deployed position, the traffic advisor is operable to display advisory messages that are clearly viewable from a position rearward of the emergency vehicle.

Abstract: An enteral feeding warming system for warming enteral feeding fluid and delivering the feeding fluid to an infant or other patient comprises a pump, a warming device, and an enteral feeding tube. The pump may be connected to an enteral feeding fluid source. The warming device includes a housing, a heating element, a heat spreader, a temperature sensor, a controller, a display, a number of user inputs, and a power source. The housing includes outer walls defining an interior chamber and a feeding tube channel separate from the interior chamber. The interior chamber retains the heating element, heat spreader, temperature sensor, and controller therein. The feeding tube channel includes a number of turns and straight sections for increasing an effective length of the feeding tube channel and receives an intermediate portion of the enteral feeding tube therein.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-readable media are provided for conducting an election. In one exemplary embodiment, there is provided a method for ensuring integrity of an electronic ballot. The method can include creating electronic ballots for voters based on votes received from the voters; digitally signing the electronic ballots; storing the signed electronic ballots; retrieving the signed electronic ballots from storage; verifying the digital signatures on the retrieved electronic ballots; and presenting the voters with validation pages derived from the retrieved electronic ballots, the validation pages including a user interface element for the voters to confirm that the retrieved electronic ballots accurately reflect their vote.

Abstract: A shipping label is operable to be applied to a package and includes a single label ply. The single label ply presents longitudinally spaced ends, opposite top and bottom faces extending between the ends, and a generally transverse fold line of weakness spaced between the ends. The label ply is foldable about the fold line to define upper and lower label sections, with the upper label section overlying the lower label section when the label ply is folded, and the top face of the upper label section being operable to receive package address indicia thereon. The upper label section includes a separation line of weakness defining a border portion and a separable central portion. The upper label section includes adhesive applied to the bottom face along at least part of the border portion. The lower label section includes a dividing line of weakness defining a connecting portion and an end portion, with the connecting portion extending between the fold line and dividing line.

Abstract: A method, system, computer medium, and other embodiments for integrating unrelated web services with stand-alone media-based devices are provided. Users can access and control the media-based device conveniently with a web-browser through various portals on the Internet. In an embodiment directed to a single web session, users program the media-based device by clicking on one or more hyperlinks or hypertexts in the form of advertisements of upcoming broadcasts. The advertisements may be web-hosted or sponsored by web portals.
