Abstract: A system 100 includes a content management system 221 having a material identification and business rules for content including targets and a work flow system 220 in communication with the content management system and receiving the material identification and targets. The work flow system 220 obtains content having an associated business rule identification and associates the content with the material identification. The content management system 221 associates the content with the business rules and generates a content list in response to the business rules. The content management system 221 receives a selection from the content list. The content delivery network 280 communicates content to a user device in response to the selection.
Abstract: A communication system 100 includes a content management system 221 determining a programming schedule and a video transport processing system 223 receiving a content file in forming a transport stream from the content file having a plurality of packets, each having a header with a first packet identifier in the header and a data portion. The communication system 100 further includes a content repository 274 storing the content in a satellite transport processing system 250 changing the first packet identifier to a second packet identifier in response to the programming schedule and communicating the transport stream to a user device.

Abstract: A power supply unit for supplying power to a device has a rechargeable, main battery; a charging arrangement for charging the main battery; a non-rechargeable back-up battery; load terminals for connection to a load; and a control unit for controlling supply of power to the load primarily from the main battery and secondarily from the back-up battery. The device is, in particular, a single bay, stand alone parking meter. In the event that the main battery runs low, the control unit is configured to supply power to the load from both the main battery and the back-up battery or only from the back-up battery. The back-up battery is easily replaceable, and the power supply unit has a bay, with connectors for receiving the back-up battery. The main battery is charged from solar panels. A communication device is provided to communicate status messages wirelessly to a control system.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for equalizing digital data signals is disclosed. Abstract: A communication system for transmitting encoded signals over a communication channel is disclosed. The system includes a transmitter, which has a source that outputs a message signal. The transmitter also includes an encoder that generates a code word in response to the message signal. The code word has a construction that defines a plurality of paths associated with an intersymbol interference (ISI) environment of the communication channel, wherein the code word achieves a diversity based upon the number of transmit antennas and the number of ISI paths. Further, the transmitter includes a modulator that modulates the code word for transmission over the communication channel, and multiple antennas that transmit the modulated code word over the communication channel. The system encompasses a receiver that receives the transmitted code word via a number of receive antennas.

A motor is coupled to the telescoping barrier arm for extending the telescoping barrier arm from a retracted position to an extended position and retracting the arm from the extended position to the retracted position. Abstract: An approach is provided for generating Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) codes. An LDPC encoder generates a LDPC code with an outer Bose Chaudhuri Hocquenghem (BCH) code. For 1/3 rate, the relevant parameters are as follows: q=120, nldpc=64,800, kldpc=nBCH=21600, kBCH=21408 (12 bit error correcting BCH). For 1/4 rate, the LDPC code has the following relevant parameters: q=135, nldpc=64,800, kldpc=nBCH=16200, kBCH=16008 (12 bit error correcting BCH). For 2/5 rate, the following parameters exist: q=108, nldpc=64800, kldpc=nBCH=25920, kBCH=25728 (12 bit error correcting BCH). The above approach has particular application in digital video broadcast services over satellite.
