Abstract: A reel for a fly rod is described. The reel includes a frame and a spool for holding a supply of fly line. The spool is rotatable about an axis relative to the frame. The reel includes a drag assembly coupled to the spool and the frame. The drag assembly is configured to control resistance to rotation of the spool relative to the frame. The drag assembly includes a first thrust plate that includes at least one ramp surface and a second thrust plate. At least one curved member is carried by the second thrust plate. The at least one curved member is configured to ride along the at least one ramp surface, such that rotation of the second thrust plate about the axis causes movement of the first thrust plate along the axis so as to control the resistance to rotation of the spool relative to the frame.

Abstract: A laminated bed covering has a puncture resistant outer layer, a waterproof but water vapor permeable central layer and an inner layer, the entire structure protecting the bed and bed clothing from dog claws, pet urine, and pet odors while providing a comfortable sleeping environment to the bed's occupants.
Abstract: A fishing rod having improved strength and durability to weight characteristics is provided using a thermoplastic toughened epoxy resin. The method of manufacturing this fishing rod includes the use of an insulating layer around rod blanks during a high temperature cure stage.

Abstract: A tippet spool is self-orientating when displayed on pegs at retail. The tippet spool also has structures adapted to interlock adjacent tippet spools in a stack with one spool rotatable with respect to its neighbors. The tippet spool is self orientating because of an asymmetrical central opening with the center of mass of the tippet spool opposite the portion of the central opening furthest from the center of the spool.

Abstract: An anti-reverse large arbor fly fishing reel is provided which is robust in design and has a superior drag. The reel includes a drag offset structure allowing an angler to switch between a preset light drag to a preset heavy drag while still allowing full adjustability of drag force.
Abstract: A fishing rod is provided in which unwanted vibration is damped and casting characteristics are improved. Vibration damping elastomeric material is provided as a tapered element within the hollow rod blank near the rod tip and/or as an intervening layer between the rod blank and the rod grip.

Abstract: A fly fishing line having an acrylic resin bonded polytetrafluorethylene coating is described. A process for creating this coating including application of the coating and layers with removal of the carrier between layer application steps and a final cure step in which all layers are cured into a unitary structure is also described.
Abstract: A large arbor fly fishing reel is provided with a smooth drag and the ability to change spools without removing any additional parts. The reel is provided with spring loaded locking tabs permanently fixed to a spool base which retain the spool upon the spool base and a drag to which pressure is applied through a central spring.
