    Abstract: A fastener of the snap fastener type having a base plate with a hollow cap secured to the base plate only by resilient hooked prongs extending through the base plate. A split resilient ring within the cap has opposed projections extending outwardly through the sides of the cap and have cam ends to permit extending the cap through a second plate by camming the projections inwardly until they have passed through the second plate where they spring outwardly to thus fasten the base plate and second plate together.
