  • Patent number: 7043402
Abstract: An on-line sensing system and method for monitoring in real-time thermal-oxidative breakdown, water contamination, and/or fuel dilution conditions in operational engine lubricating oils. The method of the invention includes an electrochemical impedance analysis technique specific to the particular oil to be monitored. Sensing devices having of at least two electrodes are configured for direct installation in an existing access port, or drain port, of a lubricating oil reservoir. An AC voltage waveform is applied to the sensing device (preferably less than 100 Hz) to produce voltage and current responses between the appropriate electrodes contacting the oil. The magnitude impedance |Z| and phase angle components of the complex impedance are used to characterize the quality and/or condition of the engine oil under test. The system also provides an electrical indication indicative of the percentage remaining useful life of the oil.

  • Publication number: 20020172498
Abstract: A computer-based video recording and management system is provided which is used in conjunction with medical diagnostic equipment. The system allows a physician or medical personnel to record and time-mark significant events during a medical procedure on video footage, to index patient data with the video footage, and then to later edit or access the video footage with patient data from a database in an efficient manner. The system includes at least one input device that inserts a time-mark into the video footage; and a workstation that associates an index with each time-mark, extracts a portion of the video footage at the time-mark beginning just before and ending just after the time-mark, concatenates the portion of the video footage with other portions of video footage, into a shortened summary video clip, and stores both the video footage and summary video clip into a searchable database.

  • Patent number: 6355036
Abstract: A bone adjuster 20 has a first lift plate 22 to be fastened to one of two opposed bone fragments to be adjusted, a second lift plate 24 to be fastened to the other bone fragment and an adjusting shaft 26 which is extended between both the lift plates 22 and 24 to adjust a space between the fragments. The first lift plate 22 comprises a mounting plate 28 and a screw-in connecting portion 34 which is connected with the mounting plate 28 via a hinge 36 and in which the adjusting shaft 26 is screwed to be supported. The second lift plate 24 also comprises a mounting plate 42 and a catching portion 48 which is rotatably fixed to the mounting plate 42 via a hinge 46 to catch the leading end of the adjusting shaft 26.
