Abstract: An item velocity monitoring system is provided which interfaces with a consumer retail store that has several cash registers that are tied into a “point of sale” store controller. The item velocity monitoring system is capable of detecting when sales (or other movement activities) of an item are occurring too quickly, or too slowly. The item velocity monitoring system is first “trained” in a learning mode of operations, during which item patterns and group patterns are evaluated and placed into a pattern database. The system then compares the observed item velocity to its model probability velocity, and if the observed item velocity deviates beyond the statistical model, a “velocity event” is generated, declaring one of the above selling “too quick” or “too slow” conditions. Once a velocity event is detected, an event handling routine displays the event, and can transmit the event information over a network (including the INTERNET) to a remote computer for additional analysis or record keeping.

Abstract: Reaction mixtures that include exothermic generating particles having a water soluble coating encasing a portion of the particles, a volatile component and, optionally an aqueous solution, and a buffer. The reaction mixtures are especially suited to generate heat in a controllable manner. In one such controlled reaction, the reaction components are mixed together and the mixture increases in temperature to a Set Temperature within a predetermined time, and the mixture remains at the Set Temperature for a longer period of time. In this manner, volatile components can be controllably released to the surrounding environment. The volatile components can be, for example, a perfume, a fragrance, an insect repellent, a fumigant, a disinfectant, a bactericide, an insecticide, a pesticide, a germicide, an acaricide, a sterilizer, a deodorizer, a fogging agent and mixtures of these. Apparatuses and methods that use these reaction mixtures are also disclosed.

Abstract: A clear, stable, dry-and-non-sticky feeling antiperspirant having an antiperspirant active, a solvent, and a polar silicone emollient. The antiperspirant active is solubilized in the solvent. The polar silicone emollient has an OH group or polyether or mixture thereof. The polyether has an average length of 6 or less of ethylene oxide, propylene oxide or butylenes oxide groups or mixtures thereof. The polar silicone emollient has a chain of dimethyl siloxane groups ranging in an average total length of 8 to 40 silicone atoms. The polar silicone emollient has a linker which is a hydrocarbon chain of 1 to 8 carbons in average length. The polar silicone emollient represents from about 1% to about 95%, more specifically from about 5% to about 70%, even more specifically from about 10% to about 40% by weight of the antiperspirant. The antiperspirant may be contained in a pressurized or non-pressurized container.
