  • Patent number: 10895040
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and apparatuses for removing water from a wet fibrous web. During the process of making a fibrous structure, a capillary dewatering apparatus remove water from a wet porous web. In some configurations, a capillary dewatering apparatus may include a capillary porous media. A molding member, such as a papermaking belt comprising an air permeable fabric, may advance the wet fibrous web onto the capillary porous media, wherein the fibrous web is positioned between the capillary porous media and the air-permeable fabric. An energy transfer surface may be positioned in contact with the air-permeable fabric or the outer circumferential surface, wherein the energy transfer surface operates to vibrate the capillary porous media. In turn, the vibration helps to drive water through the capillary porous media, allowing additional water to flow from the fibrous web and through pores in the capillary porous media.

The absorbent layer comprises at least a longitudinally-extending central portion, and a first and second side portions disposed transversally outward of the central portion. The absorbent core further comprises first and second folding guides between the central portion and the side portions. Each side portion comprises a plurality of winglets, each winglet having a proximal side relative to a folding guide and extending outward from this proximal side, and wherein neighboring winglets are separated by a gap between their neighboring sides. The central portion and the side portions form a three-dimensional basin when the absorbent core is folded along the folding guides. The article further may comprise at least one liquid management layer substantially free of superabsorbent polymer between the topsheet and the absorbent core. The absorbent core may be substantially free of cellulose fibers.

  • Patent number: 10889922
Abstract: An enhanced, co-formed fibrous web structure is disclosed. The web structure may have a co-formed core layer sandwiched between two scrim layers. The core layer may be formed of a blend of cellulose pulp fibers and melt spun filaments. The scrim layers may be formed of melt spun filaments. Filaments of one or both of the scrim layers, and optionally the core layer, may also be meltblown filaments. The core layer may include consolidated masses of cellulose pulp fibers to, for example, enhance texture and cleaning efficacy of a wet wipe made from the structure. The material forming the consolidated masses may be selected and/or processed so as to cause the masses to have reduced visual discernibility relative the surrounding areas of the structure, when the fibrous web structure is wetted. A method for forming the structure, including formation and inclusion of the consolidated masses, is also disclosed.
