Abstract: A lubrication device for a rotating hook in a sewing machine, having a hook shaft provided with a hollow interior axially thereof, an inlet and an outlet communicating with the hollow interior for prevention of oil pressure build-up therein as oil is supplied from an oil reservoir, a restriction between the inlet and the outlet for decreasing the diametrical extent of the hollow interior, and a closure for one end of the hollow interior provided with an oil supply channel communicating with the hollow interior, the oil supply channel having an axis positioned either eccentrically or concentrically of a longitudinal axis of the hook-shaft and an insert part to prevent the porous material from resting at the bottom of the interior of the hook-shaft, when the machine is stopped.

Abstract: An automatic dart stretcher for removal of the fullness of material from a portion of a garment around a dart seam to faciliate the sewing of a pocket welting onto the garment proximate thereto; two pairs clamping feet are provided to hold the material in an orthogonal and a parallel direction relative to the seam; the two pairs of clamping feet being orthogonally movable relative to each other, one clamping foot of each pair of clamping being movable together in a first direction and one clamping foot of each pair of feet being movable in a second direction orthogonal to the first direction.

Abstract: The invention concerns a stitch formation and method of making it which consists of alternate chain and lock stitches formed from a single continuous thread. On the first penetration of the needle, the thread is divided into two portions, one on each side of the work piece and then subsequent penetration of the needle forms the alternate chain and lock stitches with the drawn off thread portion passing through the alternate loops to form the lock stitch.

Abstract: A machine for making welted openings in a piece of material or similar, comprises control means arranged so as to cause it to make, in a pre-established sequence and cyclically, a succession of welted openings having different lengths requiring respectively single and indentical manual actions for starting up. The control means comprise:input means for feeding in initially and in the pre-established sequence information concerning the lengths of the different welted openings to be made,memory means for memorizing the set of length data fed in,selection means combined with the memory means so as to select successively in the pre-established sequence the lengths of the welted openings to be made,and monitoring means under the control of the selection means for, once the machine has been started up, checking the movement of cutting, stitching and notching members with respect to the selected length.
