Patents Assigned to THE RELIABLE AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER COMPANY
  • Patent number: 9677691
Abstract: In one example embodiment, a bracket for a sprinkler fitting is provided having a first flange, a second flange connected to the first flange, and a mounting flange connected to at least one of the first and second flanges. The mounting flange may for example be substantially orthogonal to the first and second flanges. One of the first and second flanges has a preferably circular hole formed therethrough, and the other has a polygonal opening formed therethrough and aligned with the circular hole. An adapter having a polygonal end is inserted in the bracket such that the polygonal end aligns with the polygonal opening so as to limit rotation of the adapter with respect to the bracket, the adapter disposing a sprinkler coupled thereto with respect to a finished ceiling surface of a structure.

  • Patent number: 9248327
Abstract: A horizontal sidewall fire protection sprinkler has a deflector having a vertical face, transverse to the fluid flow from the output orifice, and a horizontal shelf positioned above and perpendicular to the vertical face. A portion of the horizontal shelf extends in the fluid flow direction by a first length, with respect to the vertical face, and this first length is less than about half of the total length of the horizontal shelf in the fluid flow direction. The sprinkler may be installed in a support cup having a raised mounting platform configured to receive the sprinkler body and a cylindrical outer surface. A horizontal or pendent fire protection sprinkler has a body having an output orifice and a flange and a seal cap to seal a flow of fluid from the output orifice and a thermally-responsive element positioned to releasably retain the seal cap. Housing members extend through and from the flange of the sprinkler body, and contain rods, each of which extends through the flange.

  • Patent number: 6446732
Abstract: In the fire protection sprinkler arrangement described in the specification, a VELO ECOH has a sprinkler body with an axial passage for delivery of water and a deflector supported from the sprinkler body by a pair of frame arms. The deflector has a substantially planar central region and a peripheral portion bent toward the sprinkler body along a circular bend line at an angle of about 45° from the plane of the central region. The perimeter of the deflector has four arcuate segments disposed at 90° angles and four substantially straight line segments interposed between the arcuate segments and includes twelve slots extending inwardly from the perimeter. The slots adjacent to the arcuate segments extend approximately parallel to perpendicular axial planes intersecting those segments and the other slots extend radially inwardly from locations centered in the substantially straight line segments of the periphery.

  • Patent number: 4440234
Abstract: A sprinkler has a frame and a cap closing a fluid discharge orifice at one end of the frame. A lever member is pivoted at one end portion on a compression screw which extends from a frame portion generally opposite the cap. The lever member curves from its one end portion to a portion generally parallel to a strut member which extends from the cap to the pivoted end portion of the lever. A pair of arms extend from one member and straddle the other. One arm has a socket for receiving a ball on one end of a tubular retainer and the other arm has a boss engaging a dimple on the other end of the retainer. A side of the retainer engages the arm-straddled member to hold the members in place until heat as from a fire melts a fusible element in the retainer to permit the ball to retract into the retainer. The retainer then pivots about the boss to release the strut from the cap for discharging fluid from the orifice.

  • Patent number: 3998273
Abstract: Apparatus for use with a fire safety device such as a sprinkler has fusible means for attaching one or more magnets to a non-magnetic first member or escutcheon. The magnets may also hold the escutcheon to a magnetic second member such as a housing for the sprinkler until heat, as from a fire, melts the fusible material to release the escutcheon from the magnet.
