  • Patent number: 11607817
Abstract: Safety is one of the most important factors in the robot interaction with unknown and dynamic environments. Recent studies have shown that the use of compliant components as a solution to the safety issue, especially in the physical human-robot interaction. To overcome performance degradation caused by including compliant elements into the systems, variable stiffness approaches have been introduced at the cost of an extra actuator. A variable stiffness gripper is presented. Embodiments of the disclosed gripper may have, for example, with two parallel fingers (jaws). Compliance of the system may be generated by using magnets as the nonlinear springs. Based on the presented design, the position and stiffness level of the fingers can be adjusted simultaneously by changing the air gap between the magnets.

  • Patent number: 11601442
Abstract: A system associated with detecting a cyber-attack and reconstructing events associated with a cyber-attack campaign, is disclosed. The system performs various operations that include receiving an audit data stream associated with cyber events. The system identifies trustworthiness values in a portion of data associated with the cyber events and assigns provenance tags to the portion of the data based on the identified trustworthiness values. An initial visual representation is generated based on the assigned provenance tags to the portion of the data. The initial visual representation is condensed based on a backward traversal of the initial visual representation in identifying a shortest path from a suspect node to an entry point node. A scenario visual representation is generated that specifies nodes most relevant to the cyber events associated with the cyber-attack based on the identified shortest path. A corresponding method and computer-readable medium are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20230059151
Abstract: Composite structures are provided whose composite matrix is a fully-dense (greater than 95%) magnesium oxide-containing phase and whose entrained phase, by virtue of its' decomposition temperature or chemical reactivity, would otherwise not be fabricable. Notably, a methodology is provided whereby a range of composite structures are formed by applying an advanced manufacturing technique and a blend of ceramic powder whose sintering is enhanced by small amounts of a metal halide sintering aid. This methodology and process significantly lowers the processing temperature of refractory ceramics such as magnesium oxide allowing formation of ceramic bodies incorporating phases such as metal hydrides, fragile ceramic phases, and highly reactive species such as beryllides. In all cases, the final product is substantially-free, or even devoid, of the metal halide sintering aid, resulting in a phase-pure ceramic matrix composed of the host phase and the entrained phase.

  • Publication number: 20230046053
Abstract: Systems and methods for self-cleaning a surface of an object where an electrodynamic shield is mounted to a surface of the object. The electrodynamic shield includes one or more sets of electrodes atop a substrate, at least one or more sets of electrodes being covered in a protective film. A coating is applied to the top surface of the protection film. A signal pulse generator is connected to the one or more sets of electrodes. The signal pulse generator generates a pulse signal that causes the one or more sets of electrodes to generate an electric field. The pulse signal comprises a plurality of different pulse signals which have phase differences between consecutive signals, and the electric field causes a particle atop the coating to experience an electrostatic force and be repelled away from the coating. These pulse signals (including shapes, amplitudes, shifts, and frequencies) can be tuned to increase efficiency of removal depending on dust type and relative humidity.
