Hydroxycitric acid metal salt derivatives of more than 98% purity having formula II (a-e), lla; X, 2X?Na Mb; X, 2X?K Hc; X?K, Y?Ca Hd1 X?Na, Y?Ca He; X=½Mg, Y?Mg and the method of preparation of high purity (?) hydroxycitric acid metal salt derivatives from (?) hydroxycitric acid lactone having formula (1) which in turn is isolated in a simple and efficient manner from dried rinds of the fruits of Garcinia species. This invention employs the HPLC method and optical rotation in assessing the purity (?) hydroxycitric acid and corresponding lactone (1).

The process of the present invention comprises the following steps adding neem seed kernel extract containing azadirachtin-A to cyclodextrin, the molar ratio of azadirachtin-A to the cyclodextrin ranging from 1:0.5 to 1:20, stirring the above mixture, filtering the above mixture to obtain a water soluble inclusion complex of neem seed kernel extract, if desired, freeze/spray drying the said water soluble complex of neem seed kernel extract to get a free flowing pale cream powder.

The precursor has the general formula B—Z—A wherein B and A are the two insulin polypeptide chains, and Z is a polypeptide comprising at least one site for proteolytic cleavage in a eukaryotic host cell transformed by DNA coding for the protein precursor or in a eukaryotic cell-free system, resulting in a secreted double-chain product consisting of the disulfide-bonded A and B chains in which a portion of the Z polypeptide is retained on the A chain and/or the B chain and can be removed therefrom by enzymatic or chemical agents in vitro. Preferably the B and A polypeptides are, respectively, the B- and A-chains of insulin linked by two disulfide bonds, and the mature insulin molecule is isolatable from the secreted double-chain product.

    Abstract: A process of enriching hyroxycitric acid (HCA) from Garcinia rind in which a salt-free water extract of Garcinia rind is loaded onto an anion exchange column, eluted with a metal hydroxide for release of HCA. The water-extract is then treated with a cation exchange column to make free HCA as a free acid. The water extract is loaded at a capacity of 100 to 125% of the anion exchange column and at a capacity of 50 to 90% of the cation exchange column. The HCA can be added to food products such as beverages and snack bars.

In the described method of making the solar collector, a transparent plastic sheet is first bent into a right circular cylinder with its longitudinal edges secured together; and then a rigid absorber panel, having a width greater than the diameter of the cylinder, is inserted into the cylinder to deform it into an oval shape.

    Abstract: A quickly-attachable pipe coupling comprises a flexible tube having an internal diameter approximately equal to the outer diameter of the pipe to be coupled, and a cylindrical spring overlying the flexible tube. The cylindrical spring includes a closely-wound coil of flat spring material having more than one turn, and having an inner diameter in its relaxed condition less than the outer diameter of the flexible tube. The coil spring is partially uncoilable under stress to open by increasing its inner diameter at least to the outer diameter of the flexible tube. Thus, the flexible tube and the cylindrical spring thereover, when in its stressed open condition, may be applied over the end of the pipe to be coupled, whereupon the cylindrical spring may be relaxed to close and to cause it to compress the flexible tube into tight engagement with the pipe for the complete length of the coil spring.
