Abstract: Color display systems are disclosed, wherein the color display system includes a main display unit and a secondary display unit. The main display unit can include a plurality of rotatable color selection pods where one side of the color selection pod displays a color(s) and the other side of the color selection pod includes receptacles that can hold color chips. The color selection pods are arranged in columns, and each column can represent a particular color family or color category. The secondary display unit can include a first sub-display and a second sub-display, with each sub-display displaying colors of particular categories or themes. The color display system can also include a central work center which can include a work table and rotating color display.

Abstract: Computer-implemented systems and methods are provided for determining an amount of color additive to add to paint. Color measurement data is transmitted via a network is received at a server. A color formulation is identified based on the color measurement data. Historical color recommendation data is accessed from a data repository, where the data repository contains color data that is based on previous color recommendations. The color formulation is adjusted based on the historical color recommendation data, and the adjusted color formulation is transmitted from the server via the network.
Abstract: A method performed by an electronic device includes storing a correlation between spectral data values and mix ratio values of components of a mixture. Spectral data is acquired from a coating, of the mixture, that is applied to a substrate. A mix ratio, of the components that are in the coating, is determined from the acquired spectral data based on the stored correlation.
Abstract: Coating compositions and methods of using these compositions to form tough, abrasion resistant, and water resistant coatings on metal-containing substrates are described. Coating compositions are derived from one or more ingredients comprising at least one copolymer, referred to herein as Copolymer I, that preferably comprises (a) one or more repeating units (Repeating Unit(s) A) comprising at least one hydrophilic ester functionality and at least one polar functionality; and (b) one or more additional kinds of copolymerizable repeating units (Repeating Unit(s) B). Preferably, repeating Unit(s) A are a residue of an unsaturated monoester of a diacid or anhydride thereof having a carbon-carbon double bond, wherein at least one hydrophilic ester is pendant from a first carbon of the carbon-carbon double bond and at least on polar group is pendant from the second carbon of the carbon-carbon double bond.

Abstract: An opacifying cluster which may be added to a coating composition to provide a coating composition with low gloss and a high level of opacity. The opacifying cluster can include a polymeric latex binder coalescing cluster components into a generally homogeneous particle. The cluster components may include discrete polymeric particles each defining a closed void volume therein, a plurality of inorganic pigment particles, and a plurality of extender pigment particles. The clusters may also include a porosity of the polymeric latex binder thereof defining a binder void volume. Also provided is a paint product including such a pigment cluster.

Abstract: A method of providing a color identification display includes accessing color data associated with a pool of candidate colors, wherein a first color metric and a second color metric are associated with each candidate color. Color data associated with a reference color is accessed, wherein the color data associated with the reference color includes values for the first color metric and the second color metric. A display is provided, wherein the display includes a first filter control associated with the first color metric and a second filter control associated with the second metric, wherein the first filter control and the second filter control are each selectable in two directions relative to the first color metric value and the second color metric value of the reference color. A selection of a first color metric direction relative to the reference color is received via the first filter control.

Abstract: Soft feel coating compositions, particularly for plastic substrates, having improved chemical resistance and methods of improving the chemical resistance of soft-feel coatings are provided.
Abstract: Provided is a tool that includes a handle assembly including a top portion and a bottom portion. The tool also includes a lock plate disposed between the top and bottom portions and having a deflectable arm having a free end biased towards the top portion, a fixed end opposite the free end, an inner edge, an outer edge, and a detent near the free end and the inner edge. The tool additionally includes a blade having first and second ends, an indent in a bottom surface of the blade near the first end for engaging the detent in a closed position, and a ramp on the bottom surface near the indent defining a reduced thickness portion of the blade that reduces in thickness from the indent towards an edge of the blade to reduce contact between the detent and the blade during rotation of the blade.

Abstract: A powder coating composition comprising: (a) a first acrylic powder resin having a hydroxyl value of at least about 180; (b) a second acrylic powder resin having a hydroxyl value less than about 45; (c) a crosslinker reactive with the hydroxyl functional acrylic resins; and (d) wollastonite.
Abstract: A pre-treated wipe is disclosed. The pre-treated wipe includes an absorbent substrate impregnated with a solution. The solution includes a colorant capable of imparting a change in color to a wood surface. The solution further includes a finishing composition. The solution further includes a thickening agent. The solution has a finished viscosity that is greater than an original viscosity of the solution when prepared without the thickening agent. The absorbent substrate is impregnated with the solution before being disposed in a package.
