Patent number: 5046359Abstract: An assembly capable of being launched from a submarine to carry into seawater an element responsive to a property of the water to be measured, comprising a carrier member coupled to the element, a lifting body shaped to provide hydrodynamic lift, a tether for mechanically connecting the lifting body to the submarine, the lifting body and the tether being constructed and arranged so that the lifting body, when connected to a moving submarine, will move through the water at a distance above the submarine, a supply of electrically conductive cable connected to the element and stored at least in part by the lifting body for payout to accommodate movement of the submarine relative to the member, and releasable coupling means for holding the member and the lifting body together during their launch from the submarine and thereafter releasing the lifting body from the member.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 1975Date of Patent: September 10, 1991Assignee: The Sippican CorporationInventor: John L. Patent number: 4065911Abstract: A combination bacon slicing, segregating and weighing machine is provided. The slicing machine has a slicing blade and controls for determining the rate of feed of the bacon belly towards the slicing blade and, consequently, the slice thickness. Receiving and conveying structure is associated with the weighing machine and receives the sliced product coming from the slicing machine. Control apparatus is designed for interruption of the operation of the feeding mechanism by appropriate controls when the slices are at a weight less than the prescribed draft weight. The apparatus then provides for weighing and registering the weight of the accumulated light weight group of sliced product and for counting the number of slices in the lighter group.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 1976Date of Patent: January 3, 1978Assignee: Amtron, Division of the Sippican CorporationInventor: John C. Patent number: 4041382Abstract: A measurement system of the type having a sensor the electrical resistance of which varies as a function of a parameter being measured, and a bridge circuit connected to the sensor, wherein a source of a reference voltage is provided to excite the bridge to produce a bridge output indicative of the parameter being measured when the bridge is balanced, the bridge output being dependent upon the sensor resistance and the reference voltage except that the system includes circuitry for causing the output to be independent of the reference voltage at one end of a range of values of the parameter, and output circuitry is provided for converting the bridge output into a system output in accordance with an output function, featuring, in one aspect, first calibration circuitry connected to the output circuitry to provide a first calibration signal for calibrating the system at one end of the range by controlling the output function; second calibration circuitry connected to the bridge circuit to provide a second calibType: GrantFiled: August 16, 1976Date of Patent: August 9, 1977Assignee: The Sippican CorporationInventor: Ralph G. Patent number: 3989003Abstract: A paint spray control system for controlling a paint spray apparatus including a paint spray station having at least one spray gun and a conveyor for transporting objects of diverse styles is disclosed. The control system includes input means for depositing different sets of data words into a memory, some of the data words being in a first set representative of a predetermined position of an object of predetermined style and others being in a second set representative of the style of a specific object transported by the conveyor. The control system further includes means for supplying an increment signal representative of the position of an object transported by the conveyor relative to the spray station, and comparison means for comparing the increment signal and a specific one of the data words in the second set with the position and style information contained in data words in the first set.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 1974Date of Patent: November 2, 1976Assignee: The Sippican CorporationInventors: John C.
