Abstract: A bedding product for use as a mattress topper has a tray formed by a bottom sheet of compressible material with a generally rectangular frame attached at the periphery of a surface thereof, formed by rails of compressible material. The tray has a generally rectangular recess therein formed by the rails, which can be filled with inserts of selected firmness characteristics, to give the overall bedding product selected characteristics related to firmness.

Abstract: A mattress support system for a bed, comprising a base section, a wire support section, and an upper section. The upper section has one or more substantially rigid edge frame members incorporated therein for increased mattress edge support. The edge frame members may further comprise extensions of the upper section, such that the upper section is wider and/or longer than the base section, so that the mattress support system may be supported by a frame which corresponds to the size of the base section, while fully supporting a mattress which corresponds to the larger size of the upper section.

Abstract: An elongate convoluted cushion supports a recumbent human body. The cushion comprises an elongate rectangular body defined by seven rectangular, longitudinally spaced zones comprising alternating support zones and comfort zones. The support zones provide a first amount of support. The comfort zones provide a second amount of support. The first amount of support is greater than the second amount of support.

Abstract: A quilt top mattress comprises a spring unit and a cover fabric layer surrounding the spring unit. A quilt top layer overlies the fabric layer. The quilt top layer comprises an outer fabric layer, a fiber batt layer, a convoluted foam cushion and an inner fabric layer, all being secured together by stitching to define a select quilt pattern. The convoluted foam cushion has a planar outer surface in contact with the fiber batt layer, and a convoluted inner surface defined by alternating peaks and valleys, the inner surface facing the spring unit. A fabric flange secures a perimeter edge of the quilt top layer to a corner edge of the cover fabric layer.

Abstract: A mattress is provided with an innerspring unit, one or more layers of foam material disposed over the innerspring unit, and a mattress cover enclosing the innerspring unit and foam layers. The innerspring unit has first and second border wires spaced apart from each other by a predetermined distance and a plurality of spring coils arranged in a plurality of rows between the border wires. Each of the coils is formed of a helical wire member having a plurality of spaced apart convolutions. A plurality of compressible support members are provided between adjacent rows of coils. The support members are generally in the shape of an I-beam, with an upper portion of a first width, a middle portion of a second width, and a lower portion of a third width. The upper portion of each support member is provided between a first two adjacent convolutions of the coil springs and the lower portion of each support member is provided between a second two adjacent convolutions of the coils.
