  • Publication number: 20240084705
Abstract: An airfoil is configured to reduce lift pressures in relaxing spans adjacent to the airfoil's tip to avoid vortex formation. The relaxing span is configured to enable negative air angles of attack on thin airfoils to reduce pressure differences. The configuration enables more-efficient long-chord blunt edges/tips on low aspect ratio airfoils having utility in a plurality of applications including aircraft wings, turbine blades, and ductless fans.

  • Publication number: 20220243655
Abstract: A motor (more-broadly, induction device) is based around stacked rotor and stator boards rather than coils. The advance is analogous to using circuit boards rather than wires. Distinct advantages exist when the circuit board motor embodiment is combined with a novel open-burner combustor to form a hybrid electric-fuel jet engine (a culmination of three embodiments). The preferred application of the hybrid fuel-electric engine is in highly efficient (high lift-to-drag) aircraft utilizing towed platforms having high surfaces areas for both generating lift and collecting solar energy. The final combination yields advantages for an aerial platform towed via a front hinge joint that enables both vertical takeoff/landing and advantageous failsafe landing options. The aircraft is preferably powered by the hybrid electric-fuel jet engine.

  • Patent number: 10589838
Abstract: Transitioning quadcopters and tricopters use passively adjusting tiltwings to reduce the number of actuators needed to control flight. Both transitioning copters can operate with four controlled actuators comprising four motor speeds for the quadcopter and three motor speeds and one rudder position for the tricopter.

  • Publication number: 20190228904
Abstract: Molded devices are made by a molding method comprising use of magnetic fields to place magnetic particles into optimal configurations. The optimal configurations are set in place by the curing of a continuous solid-forming mixture that surrounds the particles. An example system uses urethane monomers to set iron powder mixtures into an inner and outer core of an electromagnetic coil. In addition to attractive forces to concentrate ferromagnetic particles, repulsive forces may be used to concentrate diamagnetic particles of aluminum or copper.

  • Publication number: 20180057018
Abstract: The Glider Guideway System (also referred to as Terreplane Transportation System) is a ground-based transportation comprised of flying vehicles pulled by a propulsion line. An important design feature of the most preferred system is that the propulsion line only experiences longitudinal forces during flight making low-cost propulsion lines possible. A propulsion carriage engages the propulsion line to create acceleration. The system include novel embodiments for linear motor stators that travel on cable guideways, a method to connect cable guideways without obstructing the path of the linear motor stators, suspended post embodiments that reduce propulsion line tension and reduce required support tower heights, and novel open loop coils for use with cable guideway armatures.
