  • Patent number: 8745243
Abstract: An IP gateway device establishes distinct TCP sessions within a single FCIP tunnel, each TCP session being designated for a different priority of service (e.g., high, medium, low), plus a control stream. Each TCP session has its own TCP stack and its own settings for VLAN Tagging (IEEE 802.1Q), quality of service (IEEE 802.1P) and Differentiated Services Code Point (DSCP). By distributing data streams assigned to different priorities of service into different TCP sessions within the FCIP tunnel, an IP gateway device can preserve the distinctions between the data stream priorities while the data traffic is within the IP network. By further distributing the data streams between different circuits and trunks by use of multiple circuits, failover and load balancing can occur within the FCIP tunnels.

  • Patent number: 8744262
Abstract: The present invention includes novel techniques, apparatus, and systems for optical WDM communications. Tunable lasers are employed to generate subcarrier frequencies representing subchannels of an ITU channel to which client signals can be mapped. Client circuits can be divided and combined before being mapped, independent of one another, to individual subchannels within and across ITU channels. Subchannels may be independently routed to a single subchannel receiver filter, such that each subchannel detected at the receiver may come from a different source location. Network architectures and subchannel transponders, muxponders and crossponders are disclosed, and techniques are employed (at the subchannel level/layer), to facilitate the desired optical routing, switching, concatenation and protection of client circuits mapped to these subchannels across the nodes of a WDM network. Subchannel hopping may also be used to increase the optical network security.

  • Patent number: 8745105
Abstract: Preparing source data to be replicated in a continuous data replication environment. Certain systems and methods populate a file name database with entries having a unique file identifier descriptor (FID), short name and a FID of the parent directory of each directory or file on a source storage device. Such information is advantageously gathered during scanning of a live file system without requiring a snapshot of the source storage device. The database can be further used to generate absolute file names associated with data operations to be replayed on a destination storage device. Based on the obtained FIDs, certain embodiments can further combine write operations to be replayed on the destination storage device and/or avoid replicating temporary files to the destination system.

  • Patent number: 8744669
Abstract: A system for providing an indication of the amount fuel dispensed by a fuel dispenser. The system includes a sensor which communicates fuel data to a data storage device to store the fuel data. The fuel data includes the amount of fuel flowing through a filler neck and the total amount of fuel dispensed. A first communication device, such as a smartphone, accesses the data storage device to transfer the fuel data to a server, such that the server stores the fuel data, allowing a second communication device to access the server and obtain the fuel data. The data storage device also receives location information from a GPS module corresponding to the location of where the fuel data is obtained. The system allows users to access the server and locate service stations having the most accurate displays and charge the correct amount of money for the amount of fuel dispensed.

  • Patent number: 8741692
Abstract: A method for forming semiconductor devices with wafer-level packaging (WLP) includes providing a silicon-on-insulator (SOI) substrate, forming a mask on a silicon layer of the SOI substrate, etching the silicon layer through openings in the mask to form elements initially bonded to but later released from an insulator layer of the SOI substrate, bonding a support substrate to the silicon layer, depositing metal over through holes in the support substrate to contact the silicon layer, and singulating the semiconductor devices from the bonded SOI substrate and the support substrate. The support substrate defines depressions opposite the elements so the elements are not bonded to the support substrate.
