Patent number: 8725687Abstract: Described in detail herein are systems and methods for deduplicating data using byte-level or quasi byte-level techniques. In some embodiments, a file is divided into multiple blocks. A block includes multiple bytes. Multiple rolling hashes of the file are generated. For each byte in the file, a searchable data structure is accessed to determine if the data structure already includes an entry matching a hash of a minimum sequence length. If so, this indicates that the corresponding bytes are already stored. If one or more bytes in the file are already stored, then the one or more bytes in the file are replaced with a reference to the already stored bytes. The systems and methods described herein may be used for file systems, databases, storing backup data, or any other use case where it may be useful to reduce the amount of data being stored.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 2013Date of Patent: May 13, 2014Assignee: CommVault Systems, Inc.Inventor: Michael F. Patent number: 8725698Abstract: Stubbing systems and methods are provided for intelligent data management in a replication environment, such as by reducing the space occupied by replication data on a destination system. In certain examples, stub files or like objects replace migrated, de-duplicated or otherwise copied data that has been moved from the destination system to secondary storage. Access is further provided to the replication data in a manner that is transparent to the user and/or without substantially impacting the base replication process. In order to distinguish stub files representing migrated replication data from replicated stub files, priority tags or like identifiers can be used. Thus, when accessing a stub file on the destination system, such as to modify replication data or perform a restore process, the tagged stub files can be used to recall archived data prior to performing the requested operation so that an accurate copy of the source data is generated.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2010Date of Patent: May 13, 2014Assignee: CommVault Systems, Inc.Inventors: Anand Prahlad, Vijay H. Patent number: 8724097Abstract: A source of light that could cause ocular damage within a given range from the source of light, such as a first laser, is accompanied by an optical hazard avoidance device, such as a second laser, that stimulates voluntary, involuntary, or both voluntary and involuntary responses, either physiological or behavioral or both physiological and behavioral, within one or more hazard zones, such as by inducing gaze aversion within the viewer. For example, a visible laser beam induces gaze aversion, pupil contraction or a combination of gaze aversion and pupil contraction, reducing the dose rate or exposure of the ocular tissue to damaging radiation from a primary source. In one example, the primary source is a UV Raman detector and the visible laser beam is selected to induce gaze aversion.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 2012Date of Patent: May 13, 2014Assignee: Alakai Defense Systems, Inc.Inventors: Kenneth Randall Pohl, Alan Ray Ford, Robert Douglas Waterbury, Darius Vunck, Edwin L. Patent number: 8721552Abstract: Automated ultrasonic scanning of a chestwardly compressed breast of a supine patient uses a scanning assembly that moves down to compress the breast through a membrane that is secured to the assembly across a bottom opening. A motorized ultrasound transducer moves across the breast while the breast remains downwardly compressed against the patient's chest, sending and receiving ultrasound energy through the membrane. The membrane is porous with respect to an acoustic coupling liquid that impregnates it. The transducer outputs ultrasound information that is processed to form initial planar images and then reconstructed slice images of breast tissue.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 2012Date of Patent: May 13, 2014Assignee: U-Systems, Inc.Inventors: Tor C. Patent number: 8725737Abstract: Systems and methods for managing electronic data are disclosed. Various data management operations can be performed based on a metabase formed from metadata. Such metadata can be identified from an index of data interactions generated by a journaling module, and obtained from their associated data objects stored in one or more storage devices. In various embodiments, such processing of the index and storing of the metadata can facilitate, for example, enhanced data management operations, enhanced data identification operations, enhanced storage operations, data classification for organizing and storing the metadata, cataloging of metadata for the stored metadata, and/or user interfaces for managing data. In various embodiments, the metabase can be configured in different ways. For example, the metabase can be stored separately from the data objects so as to allow obtaining of information about the data objects without accessing the data objects or a data structure used by a file system.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2012Date of Patent: May 13, 2014Assignee: CommVault Systems, Inc.Inventors: Anand Prahlad, Jeremy Alan Schwartz, David Ngo, Brian Brockway, Marcus S. Patent number: 8725973Abstract: Described in detail herein is a method of copying data of one or more virtual machines being hosted by one or more non-virtual machines. The method includes receiving an indication that specifies how to perform a copy of data of one or more virtual machines hosted by one or more virtual machine hosts. The method may include determining whether the one or more virtual machines are managed by a virtual machine manager that manages or facilitates management of the virtual machines. If so, the virtual machine manager is dynamically queried to automatically determine the virtual machines that it manages or that it facilitates management of. If not, a virtual machine host is dynamically queried to automatically determine the virtual machines that it hosts. Patent number: 8726006Abstract: A system and method for establishing a virtual private network (VPN) between a client and a private data communication network. An encrypted data communication session, such as a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) data communication session, is established between a gateway and the client over a public data communication network. The gateway then sends a programming component to the client for automatic installation and execution thereon. The programming component operates to intercept communications from client applications destined for resources on the private data communication network and to send the intercepted communications to the gateway via the encrypted data communication session instead of to the resources on the private data communication network.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 2012Date of Patent: May 13, 2014Assignee: Citrix Systems, Inc.Inventors: Prabakar Sundarrajan, Junxiao He, Ajay Soni, Shashidhara Nanjundaswamy, Arkesh Kumar

Patent number: 8726209Abstract: A system and method are provided for establishing a debugging environment in an Electronic Design Automation work-flow. A user-interface is provided for interfacing with users by displaying a list of debuggable parameters, accepting a selection thereof, and automatically locating both the callback function which sets the selected parameter, and the source code file which contains the callback function. Additionally, it is determined whether the callback function sets solely the selected parameter, or several different parameters, and an automatic breakpoint is set accordingly to break only responsive to the selected parameter. On execution of the modified callback function, execution will be arrested by the automatically-set intelligent breakpoint and a debugging user-interface will be generated for the user to display the relevant source code, callback function, parameter names and values, system state, and the like. Upon completion of the debugging process, the automatically-set breakpoint will be removed.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 2012Date of Patent: May 13, 2014Assignee: C{dot over (a)}dence Design System, Inc.Inventors: Gilles S.
