The process includes the steps of: passing particulate material through at least one duct toward a waste collection device; feeding an additive into the duct to be mixed with the particulate material, upstream from the waste collection device; and passing the particulate material mixed with the additive into the waste collection device. A scrap remelting apparatus is also provided.
