  • Patent number: 10275556
Abstract: We disclose transconductor-capacitor classical dynamical systems that emulate quantum dynamical systems and quantum-inspired systems by composing them with 1) a real capacitor, whose value exactly emulates the value of the quantum constant ? termed a Planck capacitor; 2) a ‘quantum admittance’ element, which has no classical equivalent, but which can be emulated by approximately 18 transistors of a coupled transconductor system; 3) an emulated ‘quantum transadmittance element’ that can couple emulated quantum admittances to each other; and 4) an emulated ‘quantum transadmittance mixer element’ that can couple quantum admittances to each other under the control of an input. We describe how these parts may be composed together to emulate arbitrary two-state and discrete-state quantum or quantum-inspired systems including stochastics, state preparation, probability computations, state amplification, state attenuation, control, dynamics, and loss compensation.

  • Patent number: 10222438
Abstract: A system for measuring responses of magnetic nanoparticles has static magnetic bias field along first axis, and AC driving coils providing AC magnetic field along second axis perpendicular to the first axis, both fields passing through an imaging zone. Sensing coils are oriented to sense fields parallel to the first axis, but not parallel to the second axis. A processor determines responses of nanoparticles in the imaging zone to the AC field. Another system has DC bias on first axis and AC driving coils providing an AC magnetic field along a second axes, magnetic gradient oriented along the first and/or second axis, and the second axis is rotated mechanically or electronically. The signal processor provides a voxel-based model of magnetic nanoparticle distribution in imaging zone. In some embodiments, the static magnet is a main magnet of a magnetic resonance imaging system.

  • Patent number: 10201718
Abstract: A system for providing monitored radiation therapy has a high energy radiation source, apparatus for excluding uncontrolled ambient light, and apparatus for collecting light emitted from a subject. The system has apparatus for spectrally analyzing the collected light, and a processor for determining oxygenation or other metabolic function of tissue within the subject from spectral analysis of the collected light. The system monitors radiation therapy by providing a beam of high energy radiation; collecting Cherenkov and/or photoluminescent light from the subject, the light generated along the beam; spectrally analyzing the light; and determining oxygenation or metabolic function of tissue from the spectral analysis. Beam profile of the system is calibrated by imaging from multiple angles Cherenkov and/or photoluminescent light emitted by a phantom placed in the beam in lieu of a subject, captured images are analyzed to determine beam profile.

  • Patent number: 10190197
Abstract: Disclosed herein are new face-centered cubic (f.c.c.) high-entropy alloys with compositions (in atomic %) of FeaNibMncAldCreCf where a is between 37-43 atomic %, b is between 8-14 atomic %, c is between 32-38 atomic %, d is 4.5-10.5 atomic %, e is between 2.5-9 atomic % and f is between 0-2 atomic %. The undoped alloy has strength of 159 MPa and 40% elongation to failure, but the doped, carbon-containing alloy having 1.1 atomic percent carbon has yield strength of 360 MPa, an ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of 1200 MPa and 50% elongation to failure at room temperature. At 700° C., the yield strength is 214 MPa with 24% elongation to failure. Thus, the present alloy may replace austenitic stainless steels in applications where better strength is needed at both room temperature and elevated temperature in an oxidation resistant alloy.

  • Patent number: 10066217
Abstract: Mutant thermophilic organisms that consume a variety of biomass derived substrates are disclosed herein. Strains of Thermoanaerobacterium saccharolyticum with acetate kinase and phosphotransacetylase expression eliminated are disclosed herein. Further, strain ALK1 has been engineered by site directed homologous recombination to knockout both acetic acid and lactic acid production. Continuous culture involving a substrate concentration challenge lead to evolution of ALK1, and formation of a more robust strain designated ALK2. The organisms may be utilized for example in thermophilic SSF and SSCF reactions performed at temperatures that are optimal for cellulase activity to produce near theoretical ethanol yields without expressing pyruvate decarboxylase.
