  • Patent number: 9285519
Abstract: A double-sided grating divider acts as a light switch where the upper and lower grating dividers are arranged to accommodate a relative lateral shift therebetween of about one-fourth of the period of the diffraction grating elements and where the critical refraction angles of the grating dividers are more than about 43.6°. Lateral shift may be achieved by various devices including MEMS and metal couplers having a known/calibrated thermal coefficient of expansion over a temperature range of interest.

  • Publication number: 20030211381
Abstract: A method for preparation of an anode for a solid oxide fuel cell in which a plurality of zircon fibers are mixed with a yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) powder, forming a fiber/powder mixture. The fiber/powder mixture is formed into a porous YSZ layer and calcined. The calcined porous YSZ layer is then impregnated with a metal-containing salt solution. Preferred metals are Cu and Ni.

  • Patent number: 6488741
Abstract: A method of selectively adsorbing propylene in mixtures of propylene/propane and propylene/olefins through the use of zeolites having structures with a maximum of 8-member rings of tetraheda controlling the diffusion rate. Suitable zeolite adsorbents are those having the CHA and ITE structure types. Other 8-member ring zeolites, including aluminosilicates, with a Si:Al molar ratio of at least about 200 and having substantially no free acid are also suitable adsorbents.

  • Patent number: 5645890
Abstract: Methods for improving the corrosion inhibition of a metal or metal alloy substrate surface are provided wherein the substrate surface is coated with a polyaniline film. The polyaniline film coating is applied by contacting the substrate surface with a solution of polyaniline. The polyaniline is dissolved in an appropriate organic solvent and the solvent is allowed to evaporate from the substrate surface yielding the polyaniline film coating.

  • Patent number: 4935181
Abstract: Methods for preparing highly conductive, oriented polymers are disclosed. In the preferred embodiment, solution of conductive polymer is cast onto the surface of a stretchable support material, and oriented polymer is produced by removing solvent from the solution and stretching the support material. The invention is particularly useful for preparing oriented films of polyaniline which films have been shown to exhibit conductivities in the range of 300-2500 S/cm.
