  • Patent number: 9987658
Abstract: A method is provided for manufacturing a humidity sensing material. Particles of a trivalent rare earth hydroxide or oxide (such as lanthanum hydroxide) are mixed with particles of barium oxide and titanium dioxide in specified proportions. The particle mixture is heated to generate a sintered mixture that is milled. The resulting milled particles are mixed with glass particles, an organic surfactant, a solvent, an organic vehicle, and an alkali hydroxide. The resulting liquid mixture is deposited as a layer thereof onto a substrate. The substrate and layer thereon are processed to remove liquid portions of the liquid mixture. Such liquid removal processing includes at least one cycle of heating the layer followed by a corresponding cycle of cooling the layer in a nitrogen atmosphere containing less than 25 parts per million of oxygen.

  • Patent number: 7514726
Abstract: A lattice matched silicon germanium (SiGe) semiconductive alloy is formed when a {111} crystal plane of a cubic diamond structure SiGe is grown on the {0001} C-plane of a single crystalline Al2O3 substrate such that a <110> orientation of the cubic diamond structure SiGe is aligned with a <1,0,?1,0> orientation of the {0001} C-plane. A lattice match between the substrate and the SiGe is achieved by using a SiGe composition that is 0.7223 atomic percent silicon and 0.2777 atomic percent germanium. A layer of Si1-xGex is formed on the cubic diamond structure SiGe. The value of X (i) defines an atomic percent of germanium satisfying 0.2277<X<1.0, (ii) is approximately 0.2777 where the layer of Si1-xGex interfaces with the cubic diamond structure SiGe, and (iii) increases linearly with the thickness of the layer of Si1-xGex.

  • Patent number: 4080901
Abstract: A lightweight pyrogen igniter assembly including an elongated molded plastic tube adapted to contain a pyrogen charge and to be inserted into a rocket motor casing for ignition of the rocket motor charge with a molded plastic closure cap provided for the elongated tube and including an ignition charge within the cap for igniting the pyrogen charge and an electrically actuated ignition squib within the cap for igniting the ignition charge. The ignition charge is contained within a portion of the closure cap and it is retained therein by a noncorrosive ignition pellet retainer or screen which is adapted to rest on a shoulder of the elongated tube when the closure cap and tube are assembled together. The interior of the closure cap and the exterior of the elongated tube are provided with matching tapered spiral buttress threads to serve as the attachment means therefor.
