    Abstract: A multi-sensor signal fusion apparatus is provided for automatic modulation classification of weak unknown signals in non-cooperative communication environment with a more accurate description of the signal. The multi-sensor non-cooperative demodulation device combines a group of sensors, a signal fusion sensor, a means for signal demodulation, and a means for automatic modulation classification. An output of the signal fusion sensor is sent to a means for modulation scheme classification to select the appropriate demodulation technique for demodulating the unknown signal and provide the necessary intelligence about the monitored signals to the user and allow the user to simulate the unknown non-cooperative signal.

    Abstract: Electrically small shortened HF and VHF microstrip cylindrical antenna with a reduced antenna length are provided. The electrically small shortened HF and VHF microstrip cylindrical antennas are constructed with concentric, ceramic cylinders having copper coating that operate at low frequencies. The concentric, ceramic cylinders alternate with concentric copper layers in a corrugated alternating structure where certain copper layers function as the ground plane and others function as part of the radiating patch providing both a shortened antenna length and the ability to operate efficiently at low frequencies. It is now possible to provide a ten-fold size reduction with these antennas.

    Abstract: A detector apparatus, detection system, and method are provided for determining optimum operational angles based on the statistical correlation of wavelength-specific electromagnetic propagation and surface interaction. These techniques can be used within the radar community in both military and commercial radar applications for airborne radar system users to determine optimum operational depression angles based on the purpose of the effort, the operational frequency, and the terrain-type to be encountered. The method requires the user to interface with a standard computer equipped with the commercially available MATLABĀ® software package where the operation is presented as a graphic user interface (GUI) that once invoked allows the user to set specific parameters corresponding to the desired terrain type. Upon doing so, the algorithms are exercised and the results are displayed in a series of figures identifying the optimum operational angles.

    Abstract: High-flexural-strength concrete is produced by mixing wet hydraulic cement-sand mixture with coarse, flat, tabular aggregate, pouring the resulting mixture into a form in a shallow layer, vibrating the form containing the mixture, thereby orienting the coarse aggregate particles, pouring another shallow layer of the mixture into the form, again vibrating the form, and repeating these processes until the form has been filled to the desired level. The mixture then is allowed to cure. Cast-in-place items are prepared by placing thin layers or lifts of oriented, tabular-aggregate concrete into conventional forms and vibrating each lift using flat-plate vibrators.

    Abstract: A protective hood jacket adapted to be worn in combination with a protect suit in toxic environments comprises a hood jacket formed of heat-sealable material forming a garment that is hip length and short sleeved. There is a large hump in the rear to accommodate the air cylinder of a self-contained breathing apparatus and to avoid for forward bending. There is a combination closure in the back of the jacket consisting of a metal zipper and a CHLOROPEL zip-loc closure for donning/doffing an air bottle replacement. Vapor leakage is mechanically reduced by two types of seals. The first type encompasses the garment peripheries at the waist and sleeve ends and these seals incorporate cable draw strings and B-lock fasteners allowing for adjustment. The second type constitute internal collars, spaced above the end of the sleeves and waist and around the neck which include elastic webbing providing self-adjustability to fit small, medium and large size personnel.

    Abstract: An electrical power converter comprising two current-fed square wave chops the outputs of which are combined and rectified to yield a variable and regulated output voltage. The phase relationship of the choppers are varied to achieve output voltage control and regulation. The chopper outputs are combined in such a way that the choppers never experience the open-circuit inductance of their output transformers. This enhances frequency agility. A novel choke feed system is provided in which the choke flyback energy is absorbed and then transferred to the input of the other chopper.
