Abstract: An adaptively positioned mitral valve closure plate blocker for repairing mitral regurgitation, comprising a suture and shaping ring (4.1) sutured on a mitral ring (2.1) and a closure plate (4.2); the closing plate (4.2) comprises a tongue-shaped plate and a strut (4.3) located at the top of the tongue-shaped plate and connected to the suture and shaping ring; the closing plate (4.2) can be connected to the suture and shaping ring (4.1), being capable of flapping back and forth and twisting left and right. The suture and shaping ring is sutured on the valve ring (2.1) of the mitral valve (2) of a patient in a thoracotomy and open heart surgery, thus shaping the disease expanded mitral ring (2.1), and supporting the closing plate (4.2); when a heart contracts and valve leaflets close, the closing plate (4.2) flaps and twists depending on the position of a regurgitation opening at the free edge of the valve leaflets to realize adaptive positioning of the closing plate (4.2), so that the closing plate (4.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of differentiating mesenchymal stem cells or adult stem cells into nerve cells by treating the mesenchymal stem cells or the adult stem cells with an electromagnetic field having a high intensity of 100 to 1,500 mT and a low frequency of 0.01 to 100 Hz. The present invention also relates to a medical device to which the method is applied. The method of differentiating nerve cells by using a magnetic field, and a composition according to the present invention induce the differentiation of adult stem cells into nerve cells by using a low-frequency, high-intensity electromagnetic field, so that nerve cells or neural stem cells can easily be differentiated through only electromagnetic field treatment in a short time.

Abstract: A phase converting device capable of use over a broad wavelength range, which may be used for optical beam transformations and combining, conversion of resonator and waveguide modes, correction of aberrations in optical systems, and selection of photons with specific phase profile. This provides significant advantages in high power laser systems. Large-mode-area fibers can be used to provide higher incident powers than can be achieved by single-mode fibers, reducing the number of elements in a system necessary to achieve the desired output. The profiles of these LMA fiber modes can then be converted from the undesired modes into the desired mode while combing their total power into a single beam.

Abstract: Disclosed is an optical fiber including a plasmonic optical filter with a closed curved shape provided at, at least portion thereof. A method of manufacturing the plasmonic optical filter includes a step of exposing a core, a step of forming a thin metal film on the core through physical vapor deposition while rotating the core in a circumferential direction after changing a rotation axis of the core, and a step of patterning nanopatterns on the cylinder-shaped thin metal film using focused ion beam technique assisted with endpoint detection method. Due to such constitutions, an active area to generate an optical signal for optical sensor can be increased.

Abstract: A 3D printing system may print a desired 3D object. A fusible powder may fuse when subjected to a fusing condition. A deposition system may deposit portions of the fusible powder on a substrate. A fusing system may apply the fusing condition to the deposited fusible powder. Inhibitor material may not fuse when subjected to the fusing condition. An insertion system may insert a portion of the inhibitor material between portions of the deposited fusible powder after having been deposited by the deposition system, but before being fused by the fusing system, so as to form a boundary that defines at least a portion of a surface of the desired 3D object.
Abstract: Local swing leg control was developed that takes advantage of segment interactions to achieve robust leg placement under large disturbances while generating trajectories and joint torque patterns similar to those observed in human walking and running. The results suggest the identified control as a powerful alternative to existing swing leg controls in humanoid and rehabilitation robotics. Alternatively, a detailed neuromuscular model of the human swing leg was developed to embody the control with local muscle reflexes. The resulting reflex control robustly places the swing leg into a wide range of landing points observed in human walking and running, and it generates similar patterns of joint torques and muscle activations. The results suggest an alternative to existing swing leg controls in humanoid and rehabilitation robotics which does not require central processing.

Abstract: A carrier gas is directed through a humidification chamber in a humidifier, where the carrier gas flow is directly contacted with a feed liquid to humidify the carrier gas with water evaporated from the feed liquid, producing a humidified gas flow. The humidified gas flow is then compressed in a compressor and then directed through a dehumidification chamber in a dehumidifier, where the compressed humidified gas flow is dehumidified to condense water from the compressed humidified gas flow. The dehumidified gas flow is then expanded in an expander, wherein the expansion of the dehumidified gas flow generates motion (e.g., rotation of a shaft), and wherein the motion generated in the expander is transferred to the compressor, where the motion compresses the humidified gas flow. Heat is also removed from the expanded dehumidified gas flow and transferred to compressed dehumidified gas flow upstream from the expander.
