Abstract: This disclosure relates to the field of Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). This disclosure particularly relates to an OCT system having a configuration that uses a phase sensitive B-scan registration method. In this disclosure, an OCT system may have a configuration that scans a physical object, acquires OCT signals to form B-scans, uses these B-scans to determine an optimal shift in an axial direction by using total phase error between B-scans, and align B-scans, thereby minimizing effects of motion that may occur during scanning of the physical object.

Abstract: A 3-dimensional printing apparatus may include a storage unit, a dispensing unit, and a pressure control unit. The storage unit stores a printing material satisfying Bingham plastic model in which a viscosity is decreased as a pressure is increased. The dispensing unit receives the printing material from the storage unit to ejaculate the printing material. The pressure control unit controls a pressure applied to the printing material supplied in the dispensing unit to control a viscosity of the printing material. Thus, a product having soft characteristics may be manufactured.

Abstract: A magnetoresistive element includes a reference layer having a fixed magnetization direction and including a ferromagnetic material containing Fe or Co, a recording layer having a variable magnetization direction and including a ferromagnetic material, and one non-magnetic layer that is formed between the reference layer and the recording layer and that contains oxygen. One of the reference layer and the recording layer contains Fe. The three layers are arranged so that a magnetization direction of the one of the reference layer and the recording layer becomes perpendicular to a layer surface by an interfacial perpendicular magnetic anisotropy at an interface between the one of the reference layer and the recording layer and the one non-magnetic layer resulting from the one of the reference layer and the recording layer having a predetermined thickness. The one of the reference layer and the recording layer has a bcc structure.

  • Publication number: 20170022532
Abstract: The majority of clinically used antibiotics and anticancer agents are derived from bacterial small molecules. These molecules are produced by dedicated biosynthetic gene clusters, sets of genes that are responsible for the step-wise generation of the target small molecule. Recent investigations have indicated, to the surprise of many experts, that the majority of these biosynthetic genes are inactive or ‘silent’ for unknown reasons. Thus under typical bacterial culturing conditions, these genes are not expressed and consequently the bioactive small molecule products are not synthesized. Disclosed is a method for high throughput screening of elicitors of cryptic metabolites, a method for producing cryptic metabolites, and a new family of cryptic metabolites, the acybolins, as well as their complete structural elucidation.
