The piston is fastened at the open end of the cylinder to define a cylinder cavity between the cylinder closed end and the piston. A pair of passages including valves, for use as an intake and an exhaust passage, communicate with this cavity. The valve members in each cavity comprise a magnetically polarized member, each of opposed polarity as related to the other, such that upon energization of the pump with one polarity of pulses, the valves will assume a particular function, and with a reversed polarity of operating pulses, a reverse function.

An injector passage including a valve, communicates with this cavity to the exterior. The volume of this cavity is reduced when the piston expands under the influence of the magnetic field created by the coil to produce a pressure on any fluid contained within said cavity to force it out the injector passage.

    Abstract: A tool holder for a numerically controlled machine tool, in which a cutting edge provided on a base member is adjustable with respect to a reference surface on the base member by adjustment means. The adjustment means comprise a U-shaped slot in the base member. This slot serves to form a pair of lever portions in the material of the base member, which lever portions are connected to each other by an area of the base member serving as a pivot. An adjustment screw threadingly engaging the base member acts upon the free end of one of said lever portions such that upon an adjusting movement of the adjustment screw the first lever portion is deflected in a predetermined direction to thereby deflect the second lever portion of the opposite direction. The second lever portion transmits its movement to the cutting edge by means of a spacing member disposed in the slot (FIG. 1).

In another embodiment, the probe is turned on by touching the probe against a reference surface. In both embodiments, a timer is provided to automatically disconnect the batteries after a predetermined time period. In such manner battery life is prolonged.

    Abstract: Apparatus and methods are disclosed for use in monitoring the operation of an automated machine tool which has at least one linear slide axis. Motion along the various machine axes is detected and used to provide an output signal for synchronizing the comparison of real time monitored parameters with previously stored data which varies depending upon the operational stage of the part cycle in which the machine tool is operating. In one embodiment, a plurality of sections are stored in a memory. Each section contains limit values associated with normal characteristics of parameters such as power, vibration, acoustical emission and the like which occur during a given operational stage. A preselected detected change in motion along any of the slide axes initiates the generation of a new section of limit values to be used during the comparison. Provision is also made for inhibiting the comparison when the motion information indicates that the machine is not presently removing metal from the workpiece.
