Patent number: 12080192Abstract: A container has a container portion defining a cavity configured to receive a pin, and a pin disposed in the cavity. The pin is movable within the cavity between a first position and a second position. A spring is disposed in the cavity and configured to bias the pin toward the first position. The container includes a cover movable between an open position and a closed position, the cover having a recess configured to receive the pin. The cover further includes an angled surface configured to contact and move the pin toward the second position to compress the spring as the cover is closed. The recess of the cover is configured to align with the cavity of the container portion when the cover is closed such that the spring moves the pin to the first position and the pin is received in the recess to lock the cover in closed.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 2020Date of Patent: September 3, 2024Assignee: Thermo Eberline LLCInventors: Keith G. Patent number: 10782420Abstract: An embodiment of a dosimeter apparatus is described that comprises a first radiation sensor configured to measure high energy photons from a radiation field; a second radiation sensor configured to measure accumulated photons from the radiation field over a time interval; an interface; and a processor comprising executable code stored thereon, wherein the executable code: computes a high dose value for the high energy photons measured by the first radiation sensor; computes an event dose value of the photons accumulated over the time interval; determines a total dose value for the time interval that comprises the greater of the high dose value or the event dose value; and communicates the total dose value for the time interval to a user via the interface.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 2018Date of Patent: September 22, 2020Assignee: THERMO EBERLINE LLCInventor: Greg Holger Nelson

Patent number: 10466164Abstract: Substrates for suspending sample elements are disclosed, as well as sample platforms comprising such substrates, in which the sample elements can be analyzed with improved reliability. In exemplary embodiments, such sample elements are used in thermoluminescence dosimeters (TLDs) or optically stimulated luminescence dosimeters (OSLDs) to provide a calculated radiation dose with improved accuracy. The reproducibility associated with analyzing a sample element, and particularly one suspended by a film or encapsulated within films, may be significantly improved by tensioning the film(s). Tensioning may result during assembly of a sample platform, using a mechanical creasing force that is applied as the result of the configuration of a substrate of the sample platform, such as opposing sections or plates of this substrate. Alternatively, tensioning may be achieved using a separate application of force to the film(s) against a section or plate of the substrate.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 2018Date of Patent: November 5, 2019Assignee: Thermo Eberline LLCInventors: Mark Jon Ramlo, Douglas B. Patent number: 10168435Abstract: A system includes a pulse counter having a selectable pulse counter read-out rate, a pulse counter read-out (PCRO) storage register that stores a PCRO count, and a pulse-burst counter that has a pulse-burst counter read-out rate that is faster than all but the fastest selectable pulse counter read-out rate, a subtractor module in electronic communication with the pulse counter and the PCRO that subtracts the PCRO count from the pulse counter read-out count to output an uncorrected pulse count, a selection module in electronic communication with the pulse-burst counter that selects the pulse counter read-out rate in response to input from the pulse-burst counter, a multiplexer in electronic communication with the subtractor module and the selection module, the multiplexer selecting from among at least two dead-time correction transforms, the transform corresponding to the selected pulse counter read-out rate, and a control-and-readout module that outputs a dead-time corrected pulse rate.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 2017Date of Patent: January 1, 2019Assignee: THERMO EBERLINE LLCInventors: Greg Holger Nelson, Phillip Edward Beeson, Alan John Laing
