Abstract: The invention relates to a method for measuring the absorbance of a sample. In accordance with the invention, an insert pervious to light is supported on a stand in the measuring well, the insert bottom being located below the sample surface. This allows the length of the light path in the liquid to be accurately selected.
Abstract: The invention relates to a vessel and to a rod used with the vessel for collecting magnetic particles from a liquid containing the particles in the vessel, or for releasing the particles into a liquid in the vessel. The minimum distance from the rod, when inserted into the vessel, from the inner wall surface of the vessel is great enough at each point to resist or prevent any liquid ring or ring part from being formed between the vessel and the rod, which ring could be removed along with the rod. In this manner, liquid is prevented from being removed from the vessel along with the rod.
Abstract: The invention relates to a means for separating magnetic particles from a composition. The means comprises an elongated protective cover (1) that comprises a recess (2) extending from the upper end towards the lower end thereof, the recess comprising a movable magnetic rod (4), the proportion of the length of the rod to its thickness being at least about 2:1. The invention can be used in different applications especially in the fields of biotechnology, biochemistry, and biomedicine. Collecting particles by using the means is easy and fast.
Abstract: A pipette tip kit is for storing and dispensing a plurality of pipette tips. The pipette tips are conical in shape and are capable of being nested so as to be arranged in either one column or a plurality of rows of columns. The pipette tip kit has a paper including a surface with a layer of adhesive thereon for supporting a lateral surface of all of the plurality of pipette tips.
