  • Patent number: 11874957
Abstract: An augmented reality (AR) system that includes a viewing device and a power pack linked to the viewing device, with the power pack including a primary orientation sensor, an orientation engine, and an AR engine. In some embodiments, the primary orientation sensor is operable to measure orientation of the power pack, the orientation engine is operable to calculate an orientation of the viewing device based on a relationship between the power pack and the viewing device, and the AR engine is operable to generate AR data that varies in response to the calculated viewing device orientation and to determine or update the relationship between orientations of the power pack and the viewing device, for example, by polling a secondary orientation sensor in the viewing device. Other embodiments, related power packs, and methods are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 11863903
Abstract: A flexure assembly operable to control variation of the displacement between a detector and a lensing arrangement along the optical axis of a camera so as to vary camera focus, and a camera incorporating such a flexure assembly. In some embodiments, the flexure assembly provides for precise control of linear displacement along the optical axis and minimal displacement along other axes or modes. A flexure assembly can additionally be relatively lightweight in construction. In some embodiments, the flexure assembly comprises one or more flexure elements adapted to permit movement along a movement axis and resist movement along axes other than the movement axis. In some embodiments, the movement axis of the or each flexure element is aligned with the optical axis of a corresponding lensing assembly.

  • Patent number: 11455742
Abstract: Imaging systems that automatically calculate, in real time, relative locations of acquired targets relative to datum targets. In some embodiments, an imaging system of this disclosure can be instantiated as a handheld imaging device having a live-view imaging system or a thermal imaging system, or both. Some embodiments include a ranging system that fires upon the release of a hard button to minimize movement of the imaging system during target acquisition. Some embodiments include speed estimating and/or time of arrival estimating features. Some embodiments can communicate with an external device, such as a central controller device. A central controller device of this disclosure may include triangulation, speed estimating, and/or time of arrival estimating features. Some embodiments of a central control device may allow users to set up and make mission assignments. Some embodiments allow sharing of data among devices, in some cases only on a mission-by-mission basis.

  • Patent number: 10043258
Abstract: A conveyor belt temperature anomaly detection system, comprising: an infrared line scanner having one or more infrared detectors and arranged to scan the surface of a conveyor belt in a direction perpendicular to the direction of travel of the conveyor belt and to generate thermal image data in dependence on infrared radiation detected by the infrared detector; and a processing unit configured to process the thermal image data to identify temperature anomalies in the material travelling on the surface of the conveyor belt.

  • Publication number: 20150260887
Abstract: An optical data insertion device for an optical system includes a projector operable to insert additional optical data into a capture aperture of the optical system so as to provide a combined image and a reflection barrier. The reflection barrier includes a secondary filter and a primary filter adapted to fit over the rest of the capture aperture of the optical system. The secondary filter is a band pass filter adapted to allow the transmission of a narrow pass band centred on the peak emission wavelength of the projector. The primary filter is a narrow band stop filter that blocks the transmission of a narrow band of light corresponding to that allowed to pass by the band pass filter.

  • Patent number: 9083875
Abstract: User-profile systems and methods that allow the users of imaging devices to create, store and retrieve user profiles that allow users to readily set operating parameters of the imaging devices. Such user profiles are useful, for example, in situations where a user encounters differing imaging scenarios having differing preferred operating-parameter settings. The user can change the operating parameter settings to the desired settings by selecting the user profile corresponding to the imaging scenario at hand. In one embodiment, the imaging device displays a user-profile-access list to the user from which the user can select a desired one of the user profiles.

  • Patent number: 8239424
Abstract: In one embodiment, a thermographic imaging device having a visual compare mode that allows a user to compare a live image of a subject to a previously captured image of the same subject to aid the user in aligning the live image with the previously captured image. In this manner, a user can capture a series of images of the subject with the device located and oriented at a common location and orientation that is consistent throughout the series. In another embodiment, trend analysis software that includes a thermographic tool copying feature for copying one or more thermographic tools from a tooled thermographic image file to one or more non-tooled thermographic image files. In some embodiments, the software includes a trend-graphing feature that generates one or more trend plots after one or more tools have been copied to one or more non-tooled thermographic image files.

  • Patent number: 5483604
Abstract: Changes in characteristics of an image are monitored at a predetermined position or zone (12, 13) of the image. The image is corrected to allow for changes in the monitored position or zone (12, 13). This is done with reference to observed deviation in coordinates of reference points (9-11) of the image. In a preferred embodiment, successive thermographic images are obtained of electronic equipment, such as a printed circuit board, and the image as displayed on a VDU screen (4) is scanned at a predetermined point (12) or along a predetermined line (13) to monitor temperature-dependent color characteristics of the image, whereby the development of hotspots can be monitored. Changes in the coordinates of landmark positions (9-11) on the image are noted and are used to correct the positions of successive images on the screen so that the monitored point (12) or line (13) is always in the same position. This correction is achieved by transformation of data using spread sheet software.
