  • Patent number: 6016738
Abstract: Piston compressor for compressing gas, comprising a frame with at least one cylinder which has an essentially horizontal axis, a piston which is reciprocable in the cylinder, a piston rod which at one end thereof is fixed to the piston, while the other end thereof is coupled to a crosshead which is guided in the frame and is reciprocable by a drive mechanism, and bearing means which support the piston/piston rod unit, formed by the piston and the piston rod connected thereto, relative to the frame.

  • Patent number: 5662463
Abstract: A rotary screw compressor that includes a male rotor and a female rotor cooperating together within a casing. The casing has a discharge outlet connected to an outlet port at a high pressure end of the working space and a suction inlet at the low pressure end of a working space. The rotor is rotatably supported at one end thereof through a bearing arrangement that includes a bracket fixed to an end cover. The bearing bracket projects into an axial cavity provided in the rotor to form a first chamber between the bracket and the rotor. The bracket is provided with an oil feed channel to feed oil into the first chamber. The rotor is rotatably supported at the low pressure end thereof through the bearing arrangement. The corresponding bearing bracket is mounted at the low pressure end of the working space and the outer circumferential surface thereof is provided with at least a groove connected to the oil feed channel and a recess connected to an oil drainage channel provided in the bearing bracket.

  • Patent number: 4809649
Abstract: A four-stroke cycle internal combustion engine including a scavenging air system to minimize the emission of oxides of nitrogen. The engine includes a scavenging valve to admit scavenging air into the cylinder, and the scavenging valve is so oriented as to cause scavenging air to flow radially toward the center of the cylinder. The inlet valve and valve seat are configured in such a way as to cause the air-fuel mixture to circulate circumferentially within the cylinder and a spark plug is provided to ignite the air-fuel mixture. Additionally, an air charging system is provided to pressurize the air that is introduced for scavenging purposes, and a portion of the air from the air charging system is conveyed to an air cooling system, within which the fuel is added to the air, whereupon the air-fuel mixture is cooled to a temperaturea below the temperature of the scavenging air.

  • Patent number: 4529409
Abstract: The invention concerns a process for the preparation of a combustible gaseous mixture or product gas from a nongaseous fuel in which a gasifier is used provided with a rotatably driven cup-shaped support grate 3. A granular or pulverized refractory auxiliary material and fuel are continuously fed to the inner side of said grate, a gasification medium or process gas being fed to the outer side of the grate, whereupon the resulting product gas and the exhausted auxiliary material with ash from the fuel, are discharged separately. According to the invention the fuel consists, at least partly, of a residual oil previously fed into the fuel chamber 14, 15.

  • Patent number: 4512759
Abstract: A device for the separation of particles from a stream of gas by centrifugal action, comprising a driven rotatable hollow conically diverging body 1,2 and a feeding apparatus for directing the contaminated gas stream toward the inside wall of said body in the region of its narrowest portion so that the particles will be deposited against said wall and will gradually move toward the widest portion of said conical body; the stream of gas being controlled such that within the body a toroidal eddy forms for the recirculation of the contaminated gas stream.
