Publication number: 20190238659Abstract: Within the financial-services industry, there are online centers that allow brokers to match sellers with buyers of financial instruments based on indications of interest. To follow up on these indications of interest, users of such centers are now using proprietary instant-messaging (IM) systems, which allow them to instantaneously exchange text messages over the Internet with other users. The present inventor recognized that these communications are often inconvenient because the IM programs are isolated from the financial information. Accordingly, he devised systems, methods, and software that integrate IM and other communications-related functions into financial-data displays. Ultimately, one of more of these or other embodiments promise improved efficiency and convenience of online interactions not only for financial trading partners and others in the financial-services industry, but also for those in any private, public, and commercial domain where rapid or convenient online communication is desirable.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 25, 2019Publication date: August 1, 2019Applicants: Thomson Corporation, Thomson Financial Inc., Thomcorp Holdings Inc., Thomson Financial LLC, Thomson Reuters (Markets) LLC, Thomson Reuters Global Resources, Thomson Reuters Global Resources Unlimited Company, Thomson Reuters (GRC) Inc.Inventor: Jeremy Condie

Publication number: 20120110053Abstract: A networked commercial interaction management method assembles information into bundles that include a data element reference and meta data describing the data element. The method distributes the meta data and the data element reference from the bundles through the network, and distributes copies of the data elements in the bundles from the network node of their respective data owners to the network nodes of accessors using the meta data and the data element reference distributed through the network. In at least one embodiment, the method periodically issues bundle version identifying signals to different nodes of the network. The bundle version identifying signals indicate changes to the data elements to the network nodes of accessors.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 29, 2011Publication date: May 3, 2012Applicant: Thomson Financial LLCInventors: Bob LAMOUREUX, Paul Jaminet, Edward Shea, Alexis Kopikis, John Boland Constantine, JR., Matthew Kuntz, Todd Bremner

Patent number: 7788156Abstract: An investor's performance is evaluated by utilizing information pertaining to at least one transaction made by the investor, such as an individual or entity, involving at least one investment. This evaluation includes determining a performance score indicative of the investor's performance relative to other investors. The performance score is determined at least in part by considering an average historical performance of the investment, following the transaction. In addition, the performance score is also determined by a historical consistency of the investor's performances with respect to transactions involving the investment, and the number of transactions made by the investor. Then, the performance score of the investor may be compared against the performance scores of other investors. Advantageously, this performance score may be used to produce a ranked list of investors in a particular industry, as well as with investors in different industries.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2006Date of Patent: August 31, 2010Assignee: Thomson Financial LLCInventors: Craig E. Patent number: 7546259Abstract: An apparatus, method, and system that implements a Securities Tracking Management System (STMS) for providing an effective solution to clear, track, detect, manage, and alert various entities of invalid securities certificates. The STMS tracks securities certificates (particularly as they become invalid), and enables users to promptly query for invalid securities certificates without requiring the intervention of a transfer agent. In one embodiment, the STMS contains details of all invalid physical certificates that ever existed. The STMS may act as an early warning system for the clearing of physical certificates during the dematerialization process. Further, the STMS may also issue alerts of attempts to convert in securities certificates that are already marked as invalid in the STMS database. Further, the STMS allows the various entities involved in securities certificate trafficking to better track and manage expired certificates in an easier, more secure and transparent manner.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2004Date of Patent: June 9, 2009Assignee: Thomson Financial LLCInventor: Michael Manton

Publication number: 20090125447Abstract: The invention provides, among other things: methods, systems, machine readable programs and associated graphical user interfaces for identifying a financial instrument and a time interval associated therewith. The financial instrument has a first set of data associated therewith, which includes a plurality of values. The values may include a first value associated with a high value for the financial instrument during the time interval and a second value associated with a low value for the financial instrument during the time interval. The values may further include a third value associated with an opening value for the financial instrument during the time interval and a fourth value associated with a closing value for the financial instrument during the time interval. The time interval is then analyzed to determine if it includes a spike or other anomaly based upon the first set of data.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 9, 2007Publication date: May 14, 2009Applicant: Thomson Financial LLCInventors: Victor Gorelik, Philip C. Patent number: 7519962Abstract: A method for parsing and verifying the contents of a command script containing a token and written in a scripting language. A first, relatively rapidly accessible data store and a second, less rapidly accessible data store are provided. Each data store contains function signature definitions which include a function name and an associated parameter list of zero or more parameter specifications. The first data store contains function names associated with commands that do not require data retrieval for completion. The second data store contains function names associated with commands that, unlike those in the first data store, do require data retrieval for completion. A potential function name and its associated arguments, if any, are recognized within the token. The first data store is searched for a matching function signature, having a function name matching the potential function name, and a parameter list matching the parsed potential function arguments.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 2004Date of Patent: April 14, 2009Assignee: Thomson Financial LLCInventor: Philip John Aman
