The door holding device includes a first arm assembly that attaches to a door, a second arm assembly that attaches to a door frame, a movable clamping mechanism that clamps the second arm assembly to the door frame, and a pivot device that allows the first arm assembly and the second arm assembly to pivot with respect to each other.
