Abstract: A steering shaft bearing unit for rotatably mounting a steering shaft of a steering column for a motor vehicle includes an outer metal sheet having at least one circumferentially closed region for accommodating at least one bearing for rotatably mounting the steering shaft, and at least one securing region for securing the steering shaft bearing unit to a console part of the steering column. In the securing region, the outer metal sheet has an opening delimited by at least two opposite securing flanges which project freely from the outer metal sheet and which are part thereof.
