The water-solubility of the pharmaceutically acceptable strong acid salts of 3-(4-amino-1-oxo-1,3-dihydro-isoindol-2-yl)piperidine-2,6-dione is quite higher than that of 3-(4-amino-1-oxo-1,3-dihydro-isoindol-2-yl)piperidine-2,6-dione. The present invention also provides polymorphs of a pharmaceutically acceptable strong acid salt of 3-(4-amino-1-oxo-1,3-dihydro-isoindol-2-yl)piperidine-2,6-dione and a solvate thereof.
