Abstract: Aluminum salts of alky-(1-alkoxyethyl)phosphinic acids are prepared by reacting alky-(1-alkoxyethyl)phospihnic acids with aluminum hydroxide in a molar ratio of 3:1. The resulting aluminum phosphinates are used as flame retardants in thermoplastics, particularly in polyesters.
