  • Patent number: 9757210
Abstract: A dental implant unit includes a layer of synthetically created titanium dioxide. The dental implant unit has one end for connection and a lateral surface covering the implant unit except for the end for connection. The lateral surface includes a layer of synthetically created titanium dioxide while the end for connection is free from synthetically created titanium dioxide. Also, a method produces a whitened implantable dental unit. The method includes thermal oxidation of a dental implant unit that includes titanium.

  • Patent number: 8821586
Abstract: An implant with anti-inflammatory or antibacterial effects, or both, for implantation in a human or animal body, the implant having a set of porous grains or granules, wherein at least a plurality of the porous grains or granules include titanium, one or more titanium oxides or titanium alloy and have a titanium oxide layer on their surface and have a mean length from one side to the opposite side, through a geometrical center, of at least 200 ?m and up to 5 mm and a mean specific surface area of at least 0.15 m2/g according to the BET method. Also featured is a population of grains or granules having anti-inflammatory or antibacterial effects, or both. Further featured is a method of producing an implant, a method for deriving a population of grains or granules, and a method for treating a condition with a porous grain or granule.

  • Publication number: 20100104648
Abstract: The present invention refers to a method for treatment of an inflammatory and/or bacterial condition, wherein particles of microstructure comprising titanium, titanium alloy, at least one titanium oxide or a combination thereof, and having a surface with at least a substantial part consisting of at least one type of titanium oxide, are brought into contact with at least one infected site in a human or animal body by insertion, injection or implantation, which at least one infected site exhibits the inflammatory and/or bacterial condition. Moreover, the present invention refers to an injectable suspension comprising the particles according to the invention and a fluid vehicle for use as a medicament. Finally, the present invention also defines use of the particles of microstructure according to the invention for the manufacture of a medicament in the form of an injectable suspension.

  • Patent number: 7056577
Abstract: A body, such as a grain, for providing ingrowth and growth of bone tissue and/or connective tissue. The body consists of a plastic or non-essentially elastic biocompatible material, preferably metal or metal alloy. It is also porous, having the following porosity characteristics: (a) the porosity is continuous and (b) the opening of cavities/indentations/pockets and the ducts connecting them has the width of >about 50 ?m for bone tissue and >about 10 ?m for connective tissue. In a method of making such a body, the body has been produced by blowing gas into a melt of metal. An advantageous use of bodies according to the invention is enclosing thereof in a casing, formed with openings, for making an implant, such as a spinal implant.
