  • Patent number: 11039688
Abstract: A device controls closing movement of a drawer in a drawer cabinet. The device includes an actuator driven by a spring for imparting a biassing force to the drawer as it closes. The actuator is mounted on a housing, which is itself mounted on the cabinet, and is movable back and forth in the direction of movement of the drawer. A damper is mounted on the housing and is operable on the actuator to impart a damping force on it in a sense to resist the closing movement of the drawer. The actuator is triggered by a catch mounted on the drawer. The housing and catch are mountable without need of pre-drilling and include locating members for determining their relative positions on the cabinet and drawer respectively.

  • Patent number: 9360076
Abstract: A piston and cylinder type damper has a cylinder (12) with a piston assembly (10) which is mounted for reciprocal linear movement therein. The piston assembly (10) divides the cylinder (12) into separate chambers with a restricted flow path extending therebetween for passage of damping fluid contained within it. A piston rod (11) is mounted for linear reciprocal movement with respect to the cylinder (12) and is arranged to engage the piston assembly (10) with abutting contact. The contact between the piston rod (11) and piston assembly (10) is arranged to be remote from the restricted flow path.

Abstract: A device is provided for controlling dosing movement of a drawer in a drawer cabinet. The device comprises an actuator (12) driven by a spring (10) for imparting a biassing force to the drawer as it closes. The actuator is mounted on a housing (13), which is itself mounted on the cabinet, and is movable back and forth in the direction of movement of the drawer. A damper (21) is mounted on the housing and is operable on the actuator to impart a damping force on it in a sense to resist the closing movement of the drawer. The actuator is triggered by a catch (16) mounted on the drawer. The housing and catch are mountable without need of pre-drilling and comprise locating means for determining their relative positions on the cabinet and drawer respectively.

  • Patent number: 5567081
Abstract: A device for use in forming a joint includes a female part at least partially installed in a recess in one joint member and a male part adapted to be received in the female part. The male part is provided with an expander region having a plurality of taper portions for expanding the female part when the male part is moved axially relative to the female part such that an opposite end region of the male part moves away from the female part and thereby causes the female part to be secure in the recess. The female part includes a first end portion for insertion in the recess and a second end portion for insertion in a recess in another joint member and an abutment intermediate the end portions for limiting axial insertion of the second end portion into the recess.

  • Patent number: 5351929
Abstract: A device 10 for mounting a panel 102 to a bracket 106 on a wall 108 with the panel vertical and at right angles to the wall. The device comprises a housing 12 adapted to be secured with a reference surface thereof against a major surface of the panel and houses a hanging member 14 which lies substantially parallel to said reference surface. An end of the hanging member 14 extends beyond the housing and is adapted for engagement with the bracket. The device further comprises means for adjusting the position of the hanging member relative to the housing so that said end is moveable in a plane substantially parallel to the reference surface. The adjusting means comprises two adjusting devices 50, 70 for moving said end in respective different directions and each adjusting device includes a single component which contacts the hanging member so as to be able to move said member, and which also is in high-interference contact with the housing to resist an inadvertent change of its adjusted position.

  • Patent number: 5284401
Abstract: A two-part fastening device for fastening two panels together is provided with a rotatable drum (16) with at least one camming surface and a pin (10) with a head (14) formed to engage with the camming surface. The pin (10) is secured in one panel to be fastened and the rotatable drum positioned in the other panel. The head (14) of the pin is passed into the drum member which is then rotated so that the camming surface acts to pull the head of the pin inwardly, thus drawing the two panels together. The head (14) of the pin is provided with protrusions (22) which cooperate with the rotatable drum so that locking engagement of the fastening device can be achieved.

  • Patent number: 5226808
Abstract: A fixing device is described which comprises a resilient pin 10 having a leading end portion 18 comprising a single resiliently deflectable limb and is inclined relative to the pin axis. The pin 10 is used to fasten two panels together by inserting it through one panel into a bore in the other panel, this insertion being made possible by resilient deflection of the limb decreasing the inclination thereof such that the pin 10 has a substantially axial configuration. The leading end portion 18 of the pin 10 is provided with an engagement element 20 which extends in a direction substantially perpendicular to the pin axis and is arranged to engage in a hole 38 provided in the other panel by virtue of the resilience of the pin 10 tending to cause release of the deflection of the limb such that it resumes its undeflected configuration.
