  • Patent number: 5433153
Abstract: An amusement track ride system comprises a pair of rails forming a track including a spinning section. A car traveling along the rails includes a chassis, a passenger seat on the chassis, and a plurality of wheel portions situated close to the feet of a passenger in a passenger seat. In the spinning section, the rails extend in a helix along an inner surface of an imaginary cylinder having a central axis, the diameter of the imaginary cylinder being set so that the axis of helical rotation of the car traveling in a spin along the rails passes through the car and is substantially in alignment with the central axis of the imaginary cylinder. The holding device has a shoulder retainer provided at the back rest for holding down the shoulders of the passenger in the passenger seat from above. The retainer is guided by a guide mechanism to be movable in the extending direction of the seat back rest, and locked by a locking mechanism in a position where the retainer abuts against the passenger's shoulders.

  • Patent number: 4831937
Abstract: An amusement ride device comprises a track composed of a pair of parallel rails and having a central axis extending between the rails, and a car adapted to travel along the track. The car includes a car body, a pair of front wheels and a pair of rear wheels adapted to be rotated in contact with the rails, thereby allowing the car body to travel along the rails, a swinging frame, having the rear wheels rotatably supported on each end thereof and extending substantially at right angles to the advancing direction of the car, and a bogie shaft attached to the car body so as to extend in the advancing direction of the car and pivotally supporting the swinging frame.

  • Patent number: 4724771
Abstract: An amusement ride system according to the present invention comprises a pair of rails extending at a fixed distance from each other, and a passenger car located between the rails and traveling along the rails. A plurality of wheel units are provided on either side portion of the car, along the rails. Each wheel unit includes a set of wheels, which are in rolling contact with each corresponding rail, so as to hold it between them. The middle portion of the rail pair is twisted around a central axis between the rails, thus forming at least one twist region. As the car runs past the twist region of the rails, therefore, it is rotated around the central axis, following the twist of the rails.

  • Patent number: 4561514
Abstract: An amusement vehicle has a hollow body shell which is shaped like, for example, a four-footed animal. Front and rear frames are provided inside the body shell, and are coupled to each other by a hollow shaft. The front and rear frames can correlatively rotate in the rolling direction around the hollow shaft. Front wheels are mounted on the front frame, and rear wheels on the rear frame. At least one of these wheels is rotated by a motor. Besides the front and rear wheels, front imitation legs and rear imitation legs are attached to the front and rear frames so as to be swingable in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. The front and rear imitation legs are reciprocated back and forth by the motor through a power transmission shaft. The power transmission shaft is passed through the hollow shaft.

  • Patent number: 4548136
Abstract: A track-traveling four-wheel vehicle is arranged such that pedalling power of a passenger is transmitted to rear wheels as drive wheels through a chain, and the rear wheels and front wheels as driven wheels roll along two rails. The vehicle has: frames constituting a rectangular body; a swing frame arranged such that an L-shaped end portion is pivotally mounted in the middle portion of the rear frame through a vertical shaft and the other L-shaped end portion extends along the longitudinal direction of the body, the swing frame being supported to swing in a horizontal plane; and a driven wheel support frame pivotally supported at the distal end portion of said swing frame. The front frame is slidably supported in the vicinity of the distal end portion of the swing frame through a sliding support mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4531459
Abstract: The invention provides a standing position support apparatus having: a standing position support column for holding a passenger in an upright posture on a main body of a vehicle which rolls or orbits along a track; a height-adjusting frame which is disposed at the standing position support column to be vertically movable therealong and adjusted at a proper position in accordance with the height of the passenger and which has a locking mechanism for locking the height-adjusting frame; and a body safety support mechanism having a pair of right and left shoulder holders which are free to pivot and support the upper half of the body (e.g., surrounding of the shoulders) of the passenger, a saddle for supporting the pelvic portion of the body, and an abdominal support for supporting the lower torso of the passenger. With the standing room apparatus, the passenger can be safely held to stand on the main body while it is in motion and can enjoy thrilling excitement as if he were standing on the main body by himself.
