Abstract: A sheet-like article including fibers and carbon nanotubes and/or carbon nanohorns adhering to the surface of the fibers in a uniformly dispersed state without agglomeration to form a network structure on the fibers. The sheet-like article is preferably made by converting the fibers and a dispersion of the carbon nanotubes and/or carbon nanohorns by a wet papermaking process. To use cellulose fibers as main fibers provides a good sheet-like article.

  • Patent number: 7754411
Abstract: The present invention provides a slip sheet that protects a planographic printing plate in which the coefficient of static friction between corresponding surfaces of the slip sheet that contact an image-forming surface of the planographic printing plate is 0.35 or less, the surface strength of the slip sheet is 15 or more, or the Clark stiffness of the slip sheet is 20 to 50. In a production process of the planographic printing plate, the image-forming surface and the slip sheet are adhered by suitably charging, and following their lamination, the charge rapidly dissipates resulting in favorable separation, discharge characteristics and storage characteristics in an automatic plate feeder. In addition, sticking between the slip sheet and the image-forming surface during heat treatment can also be prevented simultaneously. This slip sheet is particularly effective for planographic printing plates of the heat mode type and photon mode type on which images are formed by exposure to laser light.

  • Patent number: 7648746
Abstract: An ink jet recording paper capable of compatible with high speed ink jet printers is provided. By using, as a fiber material, mercerized pulp obtained by applying an alkali treatment to pulp, an ink jet recording paper of high ink absorption speed and high ink coloring density is formed. Since the paper itself has excellent ink absorption speed, there is no requirement for applying coating for improving the ink absorption and it can be used as non-coated type ink jet recording paper.

  • Patent number: 7588831
Abstract: An oil-resistant sheet material which has low resistance to gas permeation and excellent oil resistance and is suitable especially for use as a packaging material for foods containing an edible oil. The oil-resistant sheet material is obtained by forming at least one coating layer from a material comprising a hydrophobized starch and a crosslinking agent on at least one side of a base in an amount of 0.5 to 20 g/m2. By incorporating a fatty acid and/or polyvinyl alcohol into this coating layer, oil resistance is improved. A coating layer comprising a fatty acid as the main component or a coating layer comprising polyvinyl alcohol as the main component may be formed on that coating layer. Thus, a coating layer composed of at least two layers may be formed.

  • Patent number: 6663960
Abstract: Fluorescent particles strongly fluorescing upon irradiation with ultraviolet rays, as well as a process for producing the same, are provided. A water-insoluble fluorescent dyestuff and/or pigment fluorescing upon irradiation with ultraviolet rays and a powdery material including starch, cellulose, other polysaccharides and sugars are mixed and granulated. The surface of granules of the powdery material may be coated with the fluorescent dyestuff and/or pigment. In granulation or coating, a resin having reactive groups reacting with the hydroxyl groups of the powdery material is used in combination, whereby particles excellent in water resistance can be obtained. Further, the interaction between an anionic binder contained in the granules and a cationic material contained in the coating layer or between a cationic binder contained in the granules and an anionic material contained in the coating layer can be utilized to confer water resistance on the particles.

  • Patent number: 6355140
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a thread-inserted window paper produces paper in which a thread is exposed to windows which are intermittently formed, and have clear contours, and in which thread is exposed surely at the window portions to make the thread clearly recognizable visually. The method is capable of being carried out with a relatively simple apparatus. Wet paper (1) in which a thread (T) is embedded in the paper layer is guided while being in intimate contact with a center roll (3) having protrusions (2) arranged on the surface thereof intermittently at a predetermined distance, the surface of the wet paper on the protrusions is frictionally rubbed by a friction roll (4) thereby moving fibers at the surface of the wet paper on the protrusions to form exposed portions of the thread intermittently on the surface of the wet paper and the wet paper is then dried by a customary method.
