  • Patent number: 4704977
Abstract: Method and apparatus for preparing sewing data for an automatic sewing apparatus which embroiders an embroidery pattern on cloth using a zigzag chain stitch while moving one or both of a cloth retainer and a sewing machine relative to each other. When a pattern corresponding to a basic sewing data group stored in a memory device is to be embroidered either magnified or reduced in size, in order to set a desired stitch density (P), which is the pitch of the stitches, three items of basic sewing data are read out from the memory device as one processing unit. After these items of data have been multiplied by a specified magnification to obtain sewing data (A,B,C), a pattern range which corresponds to the sewing data is divided by a particular stitch density in order to calculate correction data ( .circle.1 to .circle.21 ).

  • Patent number: 4699072
Abstract: A presser foot control for a sewing machine comprises a solenoid and two springs having different spring constants arranged in series with a transmitting lever and a starting lever. A first weaker spring is set in a "previously-pulled" condition and is connected in series with a second, stronger spring. The solenoid force first pulls on the stronger, unloaded spring. Thereafter, the weaker spring, which has been pulled previously into a loaded condition, is pulled and presses the presser foot causing the workpiece to be pressed against the table. Despite variations of thickness in a workpiece, the invention is effective to clamp the workpiece with a substantially constant pressure value.

  • Patent number: 4693192
Abstract: A control device for sewing machines includes an input device adapted to permit the input of different categories of information including program relative commands, unit sewing pattern relative commands, and numeric data and a discriminator capable of discrimination between a command for programming and one for program execution. The former commands are stored in a memory as program data and the latter commands are read out by means of a program read-out. In a comparitor, the read-out program data are compared with the actual data detected by a detector such as the number of stitches and the lock position of a needle arm. On the basis of this data, a fabric feed mechanism and a thread cut mechanism are ON/OFF controlled. Thus, a variety of sewing patterns can be programmed as required for subsequent readily effected and efficient execution so that operation can be optimal.

  • Patent number: 4693197
Abstract: A detector for detecting the angular position of the main shaft of a sewing machine and the indicator apparatus of a sewing machine are utilized to output the RPM of the main shaft to the indicator apparatus. The detector detects the cycle time of the main shaft rotation by referencing a clock signal and comparing it with preset data. Thereby, the RPM of the main shaft is determined.

  • Patent number: 4690079
Abstract: There is disclosed an overedge width regulating device capable of adjusting overedge width by rotating a knob which causes both a overedge-width latch and a lower knife to move simultaneously. The device permits adjustment of the overedge-width latch independently from the lower knife and the release of the overedge-width latch during the roll hemming process. Thus, without regard to material being sewn, knitted or woven, a tight and well-balanced overedge finish is obtained while, at the same time, the overedging process is greatly improved from the viewpoint of both quality and time.

  • Patent number: 4688956
Abstract: Inaccurate duplication of the first and the secnd prints due to the inequality of the distance and arrangement therebetween occurs in a serial printer in which a carriage is moved parallel to a platen by a servo motor etc. The first printing in duplex printing is performed after sufficient time for damping of the oscillation of the carriage in this invention. The second printing is done after sufficient time for damping of the oscillation as well as before. The control may be performed by sensing the necessary carriage displacement. The duplex printing may be performed when the displacement is zero or a small value.

  • Patent number: 4674424
Abstract: In a sewing machine, a presser foot lifting mechanism provides two springs, a first spring the compression of which can be changed by a solenoid actuated coil linkage and a second spring the compression of which can be changed by an operator's knee-action for lowering a presser foot. An operation lever rotated by an operator's knee-action controls the timing of solenoid action. A positional difference or gap is provided for the operation lever between a "solenoid on" position and a "first spring off" position, so that an operator can rotate the operation lever without feeling the resisting force of the first spring.

  • Patent number: 4665846
Abstract: An input device for sewing machines is disclosed which reads from a memory circuit an original sewing pattern which has been already stored, enlarging or reducing the coordinate data of the original sewing pattern in a desired scale, and prepare the coordinate data of sewing points between the flexing points thus obtained by enlargement or reduction in accordance with a desired stitch length data or stitch number data. The input device is adapted to convert the coordinate data of the original sewing pattern to the coordinate data calculated with the central point of a crank member of a work holder with the crank member as the origin and enlarge or reduce the coordinate data of the flexing points other than the starting point and the ending point of sewing in a desired scale, when the original sewing pattern is for a work holder with a crank member.
