Patents Assigned to TOMRA SORTING NV
  • Patent number: 11724286
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting matter comprises bulk feeding means configured for feeding a plurality of objects into a detecting region; at least one light source having a focusing element and being configured for illuminating at least one object moving in an object plane in the detecting region; and a first light-analyzing apparatus arranged to sense light that has been transmitted through the object. In the associated method, the object is caused to move in the plane and the object is illuminated with incident light. Light that has been transmitted through the object and is falling in a measuring plane is detected, and an object-specific parameter based on the detected transmitted light is determined.

  • Patent number: 9575005
Abstract: An apparatus for inspecting a stream of matter including: a first and a second light source for emitting a first and a second light beam; a first and a second detector; a first scanning element adapted to redirect the detection area of the second detector from side to side across said stream, and a beam splitting element arranged to receive said first and second light beams, after they have been reflected against said matter, wherein said beam splitting element is adapted to guide said reflected first light beam towards said first detector and to guide said reflected second light beam towards said second detector.

  • Patent number: 9296019
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for discerning and sorting suitable products in a product flow having a certain concentration of a component versus anomalous products having this component in an anomalous concentration, whereby a beam of light strikes these products, and the absorption of this beam of light by said component in the products is detected by measuring the intensity of the light reflected by the products at least at a wavelength or in at least a wavelength band which is situated between 900 nm and 2500 nm in order to generate a detection signal on the basis of said absorption, whereby a product will be identified as an anomalous product if said detection signal exceeds a threshold value.

  • Patent number: 9114436
Abstract: The invention concerns a method and a sorting apparatus for sorting potato products that are moved in a product flow through a detection zone, whereby irregular products are detected in the product flow and are separated from the product flow, characterized in that a light beam having a wavelength of in between 350 and 450 nm is directed towards said products in said detection zone and wherein the intensity of the light that is irradiated by the products is detected in a detection band from 460 nm to 600 nm, wherein a product is qualified as an irregular product and is separated from the product flow when said intensity is below a predetermined value. Further, the invention also concerns a method and a device for detecting the presence of solanine in potato products by means of fluorescence.
