Abstract: The present invention relates to a dental varnish composition including a resin composition which includes an adhesive resin. The adhesive resin includes the acidic monomer 10-methacryloyloxydecyl dihydrogen phosphate (MDP); a base resin comprising the high molecular weight monomer bisphenol A glycidyl methacrylate (Bis-GMA); a solvent including one or more alcohols, water and optionally propylene glycol in an amount of from about 1 to about 5 wt % of the varnish composition; a photoinitiator; and a macromolecular emulsifier consisting of polyvinyl pyrolidone (PVP). The resin composition also includes a pigment composition which includes 2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate (HEMA) or salts thereof, pigment, and optionally a filler.
