Abstract: Disclosed are methods of modelling a subsurface region. One method comprises defining a plurality of variables for describing said subsurface region, each variable having a corresponding, domain set neighbourhood set, and conflict set. The conflict set comprises conflict variables, which are previously assigned variable which reduces the domain set of its corresponding variable. The method comprises further sequentially performing for each variable: a) selecting an unassigned variable; b) assigning a value to the selected variable from its domain set; c) assessing whether a constraint is satisfied. The selected variable's corresponding conflict set is updated to include any previously assigned variables comprised within the selected variable's corresponding neighbourhood set when said constraint is assessed not to be satisfied at step c). Another method comprises foreseeing dead end variables before they are simulated.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of modelling a subsurface volume. History data for one or more parameters over a first period of time is obtained. The first period of time comprises a plurality of schedule periods, each schedule period having associated with it a sampled value of the considered parameter at the corresponding time. A merge error value is attributed to plural pairs of consecutive schedule periods, the merge error value representing a magnitude of the error in a merged value of each parameter over the duration corresponding to a pair of schedule periods being considered, relative to the sampled values for said pair of schedule periods being considered. The pair of schedule periods which have the smallest error value attributed thereto is merged, and the merged schedule period has attributed to it, the corresponding merged value of the corresponding parameter. The error value calculation and merger steps are repeated so as to reduce the total number of schedule periods.

Abstract: In a method of sealing a fracture (1) in a formation (2) surrounding a wellbore provided with a non-cemented perforated liner (4), a placement tool (6) is introduced into the liner, and a first and second annular flow barrier (8, 9) create an upstream (10), an intermediate (11) and a downstream section (12). A cross flow shunt tube (13) connects the upstream section and the downstream section, and a sealing fluid outlet (14) is arranged in the intermediate section. A placement fluid is caused to flow into the fracture and controlled to obtain a desired fluid flow in an annular space between the liner and the formation that is directed in downstream direction at a position upstream the fracture and in the upstream direction at a position downstream the fracture. When said desired flow is obtained, sealing fluid is ejected from the sealing fluid outlet. A sealing system is furthermore disclosed.

Then, the control trace is transformed on the reference level by means of a velocity model. A portion of the reference trace including the recording level is transformed by means of a current velocity model. A portion of the transformed control trace including the recording level is corrected by means of the current velocity model. Finally, an optimized current velocity model is determined.
