Patent number: 11320013Abstract: A brake cooling system uses a pair of subsystems to efficiently provide brake cooling and operation of the system. A first subsystem uses an axle assembly to drive one or more pumps to drive a variable speed cooling flow pump motor and a variable speed fan motor. A second subsystem includes one or more cooling flow pumps that are driven by variable speed cooling flow pump motor to supply a cooling fluid to an air-fluid heat exchanger for cooling and then supply the cooled fluid from the heat exchanger to brakes of the axle assembly. The variable speed fan motor drives a fan for the air-fluid heat exchanger for cooling of fluid passing therethrough. The system also includes a means for controlling the speed of the motors to regulate the heat exchanger operation and cooling flow through the heat exchanger and brakes of the axle assembly.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2020Date of Patent: May 3, 2022Assignee: TowHaul CorporationInventors: Keith Bryon Fisher, Fred Wallace Bent

Patent number: 10428923Abstract: A torque converter oil cooling system includes an air-oil cooler system that is adapted to be disposed between a torque converter charging oil outlet and charging oil inlet. The torque converter oil cooling system has a controller that directs oil when at a predetermined temperature to pass through an air oil cooler for cooling and then directs the cooled oil back to the inlet of the torque converter for torque converter operation. The torque converter oil cooling system normally operates in the non-lockup mode operation of the torque converter. Using the torque converter oil cooling system permits a vehicle to continuously operate in a torque converter mode for an extended period of time, which becomes extremely helpful when the vehicle is called upon to haul heavy loads over steep grades.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 2017Date of Patent: October 1, 2019Assignee: TowHaul CorporationInventor: Harold W. Patent number: 9346498Abstract: A gooseneck and towing module are used in conjunction with a turntable, pedestal, apron and lower lugs to tow a disabled haul truck. The towing module is designed to fit and connect to the disabled haul truck at the more substantial section of the frame by means of cables and shackles and/or pinned connections. With the end of the towing module locked in place, the main lift cylinders on the gooseneck can then be extended to cause the front portion of the towing module to seat against the bumper of the disabled haul truck. With continued extension of the main lift cylinders, the disabled haul truck will be lifted into the towing position, lifting the front tires off the ground.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2014Date of Patent: May 24, 2016Assignee: TowHaul CorporationInventor: Todd Throop

Patent number: 8262173Abstract: A system and method of remotely controlling the parking brake of a disabled vehicle to be towed by a towing vehicle includes using the hydraulic fluid of towing vehicle to control the parking brake operation of the disabled vehicle. The towing vehicle is equipped with a control valve and brake release manifold assembly. The brake release manifold assembly provides a source of hydraulic fluid of controlled pressure. The towing vehicle has means to connect the controlled pressure hydraulic fluid of the towing vehicle to the parking brake system. The towing vehicle also has means to control and monitor the flow of hydraulic fluid to the disabled vehicle in order to either release or apply the brakes when desired.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 2008Date of Patent: September 11, 2012Assignee: Towhaul CorporationInventor: Matthew Wayne Crawford

Patent number: 7036640Abstract: An axle assembly that uses brakes that require cooling includes a brake cooling system that uses at least one hydraulic pump that supplies cooling oil to the brakes. Means for driving of the hydraulic pump using rotation of a component of the axle assembly such as a transmission or other mechanism is provided, thereby eliminating reliance on a towing vehicle. A heat exchanger cools the heated oil exiting from the brakes and recirculates the cooled oil back to the brakes for continued cooling.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2003Date of Patent: May 2, 2006Assignee: Towhaul CorporationInventor: Harold W Spielman

Patent number: 6071068Abstract: A dragline bucket transporter for use in moving a dragline bucket with a hauling vehicle comprises a wheeled trailer having a U-shaped frame with tire-supported free ends, the free ends forming an open end. The frame is moved by a hauling vehicle to surround the sidewalls of a dragline bucket. Once the bucket is surrounded, a cross member of the frame engages and lifts a front end portion of the bucket by action of a hitching assembly attached to the hauling vehicle. With the front end of the bucket elevated, lifting assemblies located at the free ends of the frame lift up a rear portion of the bucket so that it is off the ground. The hauling vehicle can then transport the bucket to a desired location, the bucket then removed from the transporter for use with a dragline.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 1999Date of Patent: June 6, 2000Assignee: Towhaul CorporationInventors: Francis V. Smith, Harold W. Spielman
