  • Patent number: 4260117
Abstract: A pitoval, generally vertically reciprocal operating handle carries a rack along a stationary center, rotatable pinion with the pinion, in turn, being operably connected rotating a continuous drive rod. Two drive rolls are mounted axially aligned on the drive rod and rotatable relative thereto with a clutch spool on the rod between the drive rolls being axially shiftable to transmit rotation from the rod to either of the drive rolls while the other roll remains stationary. Each of the drive rolls with the assistance of a pressure roll grips a paper web extending from a supply roll so that rotation of the particular drive roll dispenses that web from the dispenser. Pivotal sensors are mounted sensing the periphery of each supply roll so that upon substantial depletion of a particular supply roll, that sensor engages a shuttle causing the shuttle to shift the clutch from that associated drive roll to the other, thereby commencing the dispensing by the other drive roll from its supply roll.

  • Patent number: 4238056
Abstract: A cabinet forms a frame mounting a dispensing mechanism, a soap reservoir comprised of a sump and container, and an actuating lever, all of which are selectively removable from the frame for maintenance purposes. The dispensing mechanism and reservoir sump are formed unitary slideably connected to the frame with the actuating lever pivotally connected partially overlying the dispensing mechanism in cantilever extension vertically pivotal by a forward broadened hand engaging portion to actuate the dispensing mechanism therebeneath. The reservoir container is supported inverted on the reservoir sump emptying downwardly therein and partially forwardly overlies the actuating lever, being forwardly supported to prevent the container from inadvertently depressing the actuating lever dispensing soap from the dispensing mechanism when the container is removed forwardly and replaced rearwardly to replenish the soap supply.

  • Patent number: 4164306
Abstract: A frame including a vertically pivotal cabinet mounts a dispensing mechanism selectively operable by an actuating lever for dispensing liquid soap therefrom. The main soap supply is provided by an inverted container which is rearwardly vertically pivoted into and forwardly pivoted from a soap supplying position when the cabinet is open. At least one forward cylindrical projection on the frame slidably pressure abuts facing vertical surfaces within a back wall recess of the container during pivotal insertion into and while the container is in the soap supplying position, the projection and recess preferably being horizontally offset relative to the container vertical centerline, all to positively locate and stabilize the container in the dispenser.

  • Patent number: 4143827
Abstract: A roll holder of the type for mounting split-core rolls of tissue is positioned in a dispenser moveable from an upper dispensing position to a lower exhausted position. A latch retains the roll holder in the dispensing position until tissue exhaustion permits relative movement between the split-core parts with consequent roll holder part movement to release the latch for movement of the roll holder to the lower exhausted position. The improvement includes blocking members at roll holder opposite ends normally retained inactive permitting the foregoing latch release by presence of the split-core parts, but automatically moving to active preventing latch release upon a lack of core retention. This means that the split-core must remain for proper roll holder functioning, and also that a solid core roll cannot be used with core stripping to cause roll holder functioning, in either case avoiding core stripping from the roll holder which can result in littering.

  • Patent number: 4013236
Abstract: A continuously wound strip of toweling, either solid wound or wound about a hollow central core, forms the roll with radial end surfaces. A pair of diametrically aligned, axial pin openings are formed in one of the roll end surfaces equally radially spaced from the central longitudinal axis with radially inner extremities radially outwardly of any roll core. If the roll is solid wound, a central axial opening is formed in the other roll end surface preferably semi-spherical in shape or if the roll is hollow core wound, the core forms the central axial opening at the other roll end surface. In either case, with dispenser pin support and central support at the opposite roll ends, dispensing unwinding of the strip of toweling to the pin hole radially inner extremities releases the roll for endwise pivoting about the other roll end automatically dismounting the same.

  • Patent number: 4013240
Abstract: A rotatable first roll end holder has diametrically opposed pins radially surrounded and projecting axially from radial surfaces except at pin inner radial extremities where a recess extends radially between the pins and opens axially toward the roll to be supported. The recess preferably also opens radially at opposite sides of the first holder. A second roll end holder may consist of merely a central projection so that a roll of toweling may be supported between said holders by simultaneous axially engagement of the pins and central projection. When sufficient toweling is dispensed from the roll to the pin inner radial extremities, the roll is released radially by the pins and pivots about the second holder projection through the first holder recess for ultimate complete disengagement from the holder.

  • Patent number: 3935802
Abstract: A supply web of relatively smooth paper toweling is mounted on a dispenser and is directed between rotatable dispensing rolls which have interengaging generally triangular teeth. The dispensing rolls are resiliently urged together with the paper toweling web therebetween and during roll rotation, the teeth compressively abut and foldably deform the relatively smooth paper web into a crimped paper web without appreciable permanent thickness deformation. During the crimping of the paper web by the dispensing rolls and without regard to roll rotation, the paper web is at all times securely retained by the rolls so that after the dispensing of a desired length of the crimped paper web, the web may be cut along a dispenser cutting bar during such roll retention.
