  • Patent number: 5197913
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling pitch or yaw attitudes of a toy in a fluid includes a body and a float movably mounted to the body. The position of the float relative to the body can be changed to modify the pitch or yaw attitudes of the body in the fluid. The body can also be equipped with a member to propel the body in the fluid, and a fluid projector which propels fluid from the body. A driver can be connected to the float, the member, and the fluid projector so that the body alternately swims and treads water, and projects fluid while treading water.

  • Patent number: 5141468
Abstract: A travelling toy having a ramp member to which a toy vehicle is selectively secured, and a base member pivotally secured to the ramp member. The base member is pivotable back and forth between two positions. A ratchet device converts the two-directional pivotal motion of the base member relative to the ramp member into one-directional rotational motion of a flywheel within the toy vehicle. A releasing device selectively releases the toy vehicle from the ramp member after the driving force has been accumulated in the flywheel.

  • Patent number: 5035430
Abstract: A puzzle toy includes a plurality of projections which normally project outwardly from a spherical body. As the projections are pushed inwardly, individually one at a time, a latching mechanism disposed within the body holds the projections in a pushed-inwardly state, assuming proper alignment of the latching mechanism. However, as each projection is pushed inwardly, the latching mechanism is rotated to vary the alignment and thus increase the difficulty of latching all of the projections.

  • Patent number: 4591238
Abstract: A miniature movie projector for viewing a continuous loop movie film in ambient light is disclosed. A hand operated spring mechanism moves the continuous loop movie film such that ambient light entering the projector enables the movie to be viewed. The projector is constructed such that it can be worn as a pendant.

  • Patent number: 4512748
Abstract: A pendant having a housing with a movable member connected to the housing. The movable member is capable of swinging movement for a period of time. The movement is started by the wearer compressing a movable driving arm toward a stationary projection formed in the lower part of the housing and then releasing. The driving arm is provided centrally with a spring normally biasing the driving arm away from the projection, and gear teeth at its upper end. The gear teeth mesh with a gear train terminating in a shaft having a disc and an eccentrically located projection extending toward the front of the pendant. The projection is engaged within a guide slot in the movable member which is rotatable about an axis contained in the housing. Thus, when the driving arm is compressed and released, the energy of the spring is transferred through the drive train, causing the eccentric projection to move the movable member to which it is connected, and thus imparting an animated character to the pendant.

  • Patent number: 4484406
Abstract: An amusement device consisting of a manipulative puzzle having a plurality of hollow prism-shaped pieces rotatably connected by swivel joints. Each swivel joint comprises a base centrally formed in a wall of one prism and inserted through a hole located in a confronting wall of an adjacent prism. The base is secured by a screw passing through a washer fitting over the swivel joint base. In addition, a set of projections fit into corresponding depressions located on the respective confronting walls to hold the prisms in place until moved. An infinite number of configurations may be imparted to the puzzle by manipulating the prisms, however, it is preferred that the player manipulate an elongated rectangular shaft of interconnected prisms to attain a substantially spherical configuration.

  • Patent number: 4483077
Abstract: A digital measuring device having a relatively rigid slide and a flexible, substantially transparent band with opaque indicia placed thereon, the band being capable of being pulled centrally through an opening in the slide. The slide houses a plurality of optic fibers with one end of each fiber terminating at a light-receiving panel and the other end of each fiber terminating at a digital read-out panel. The ends of the fibers at the digital read-out panel are arranged to form, e.g., a generic "88" configuration, from which the digits 0-99 may be formed. In operation, the band is pulled through the opening in the slide and light passes through the transparent areas of the band and into the light receiving panel. The light continues through the optic fibers and lights up a particular digital configuration at the digital read-out panel. The slide and band may be useful e.g., as a belt-like device for measuring one's waist, or as a carpenter's tape measure.

  • Patent number: 4357778
Abstract: An amusement device having a toy wheeled vehicle and a trackway on which the vehicle moves. In the preferred embodiment, the wheeled vehicle has freely mounted wheels for rotation, and an upwardly extending rod which engages a lift mechanism flange. The lift mechanism raises the vehicle to a height at which gravitational force then imparts movement to the vehicle around a continuous trackway. The vehicle remains positioned on the trackway due to a trackway rail positioned between the freely mounted wheels of the vehicle. The trackway includes four different track sections which impart different movements to the vehicle as the vehicle moves along the trackway. In one track section, for example, the trackway imparts a loop-to-loop movement to the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4282677
Abstract: An ambulatory worker toy having a wind-up spring motor within a housing which includes a head casing movably mounted on a torso casing from which fixed and movable arm members extend. Two movably mounted leg members are connected to the spring motor via an ambulatory transmission mechanism to periodically raise and shift the leg members to propel the toy sideways in a walking motion. A tool movement transmission mechanism driven by the spring motor moves the movable arm member and a toy broom attached thereto to simulate a sweeping action. Finally, an oscillatory transmission mechanism driven by the spring motor periodically pumps an internal whistle mechanism and moves the head casing in simulation of a whistling worker. The net effect of the various transmission mechanisms is to present a toy which is powered by a single spring motor but which nevertheless simulates a sweeping worker which whistles as it walks.
