Abstract: In an elevator comprising an entrance frame provided on an entrance leading from a landing hall to a hoistway and having an upper frame (103) and a vertical frame (102, 102), and landing doors (110, 110) arranged on the entrance frame with a gap and to be guided by a sill (104) for opening-closing an opening of the entrance frame, the landing doors (110, 110) have smoke shielding members (120, 130, 111) which are provided on a top portion, side portion, and a bottom portion of the landing doors (110, 110) for preventing the infiltration of smoke. The smoke shielding member (130) on the side portion is in contact with the smoke shielding member (111) on the bottom portion at a lower position, and is in contact with the smoke shielding member (120) on the top portion at an upper position.

Abstract: A building has a ventilating space between its inner and outer exterior walls which is capable of effectively saving energy. The building's body has an inner exterior wall on which an outer wall is supported by means of supporting members to form a ventilating space therebetween. The space may also be used for accommodating piping and wiring for connecting main equipment installed on the rooftop of the building with respective terminal devices installed in separate rooms of the building. An air inlet is formed in the lower portion of the new exterior wall, e.g., in the head casing for a second story window, and an air outlet is formed between the inner coping and the outer coping. The outside air enters through the air inlet into the space between the outer and inner walls and flows out therefrom through the air outlet. In summer, such ventilation prevents heat from getting into the rooms of the building via the walls.

Abstract: This invention provides a multifloor type escape bridge apparatus for use in a multistory building in emergency situation, such as a fire or the like. In a normal situation, the necessary members for example expanders, floor boards, suspension ropes and up and down winding mechanisms are set up between adjacent buildings in a contracted condition under a supporting body. In the case of an emergency, the expanders fixed at the supporting body are extended downwardly so as to set up at each floor a board which provides connections between corresponding openings at opposed walls of said adjacent buildings. This enables individuals to escape from one building to another.
