Abstract: A passenger seat airbag includes a passenger side wall for catching a passenger, and a circumferential wall that extends forward from the passenger side wall in a converging fashion. The circumferential wall includes an upper wall, a lower wall, a left wall and a right wall, and can be mounted on a housing by the front end. An inlet port for introducing inflation gas is disposed at a front end region of the lower side wall, at a position displaced to the right from the center in a left and right direction of the passenger side wall. In the front end region of the circumferential wall, with respect to a substantial circumferential length which permits free expansion, a left circumferential wall region disposed on the left of the inlet port and a right circumferential wall region disposed on the right of the inlet port have equal substantial circumferential lengths.

Abstract: An airbag device includes an airbag, an inflator and a retainer. The retainer includes a generally tubular holding section for holding the inflator therein and mounting means which protrudes out of the holding section in a direction generally perpendicular to an axis of the inflator to be mounted on a vehicle body member in order to mount the airbag and the inflator on the vehicle body member. The joint is connected to one end of the passage forming part, and an outlet is formed at the other end of the passage forming part. The valve member that opens and closes the outlet. The valve member comprises a valve element, a spring bearing part, a holding part continuous to at least one of the joint and the passage forming part, and a compression coil spring. The joint and the passage forming part are communicated to each other to form a fuel passage. At the end on the joint side of the passage forming part in the fuel passage, there is formed a diameter enlarged portion having an inner diameter gradually increasing from a fuel supply pipe side toward the outlet side.

A retainer is inside the airbag, and an inflator is inserted into a holding section of the retainer via the insert opening such that the root end protrudes from the insert opening. The flap member entirely covers the insert opening of the airbag body as unfolded and is joined to the airbag body, with a continuous seam, by the circumferential edge except the leading edge disposed towards the leading end of the inflator. The flap member thus covers the holding section. The retainer includes an open region which exposes an outer periphery of the inflator towards the flap member, and the leading edge of the flap member is positioned to be pressed against the outer periphery of the inflator via the open region at airbag deployment.

Abstract: An airbag includes an insert opening. An inflator is inserted into the airbag via the insert opening and set in a holding section of a retainer which is disposed inside the airbag. The retainer includes, at its end region disposed towards the insert opening of the airbag, two retaining pawls that are in engagement with a periphery of the insert opening. The insert opening is composed of a plurality of slits formed on a base material of the airbag such that one or more area among the slits serve as a bent sealing region that is bent inward and covers an outer periphery of the inflator. The slits include a pair of retaining slits that intersect each other. Each of the retaining pawls protrudes from a terminal of each of the retaining slits. A peripheral area of the retaining slits constitutes the bent sealing region.
